After reading the long list from others on here it sounds all too familiar. July 2910 Timothy Lee Petty ( Going by Timothy Lee, to try to avoid connections to his past) Hired my company to record and edit video for an event he was putting on called the Marketers Elite In Orlando. Charming at the outset the terms were agreed and 3 payments were to be made, 50% up front, 25% on the 1st day and the final 25% upon delivery of the edited video.
The 1st payment was late but still before the event so we let that slide, However upon arriving at the event things started to play out like so many others on here. He wanted to pay by paypal, which I thought was odd because he said he was bringing a check but ok. for he sent $390 to my paypal account but paypal put a hold on it, he made an excuse about it being paypals error and he would get it cleared in a few days and I could see the money was pending. We decided to continue with the shoot. The shoot went well with little issues but a week after the shoot the amount was stil pending, we enquired to paypal and found out Timothy Lee Petty had paid paypal by an e-check which paypal said was eventually returned so they tried to resubmit it,
Then Timothy Cancelled that transaction telling me its all Paypals error and he would use ACH so we gave him our bank details and waited, and waited , now if you know ACH payments are usually in your bank the next day, of course it wasn't and Timothy blamed the bank for various mixups on their part ( sounding familiar if you have read others stories?) of course we never got the ACH and we had edited the video but we sure as hell were not going to release it till we got ALL our money Eventually after a month goes by we threaten to recover our costs by offering it for sale to the clients that were at the event directly ( our contact states we own the rights til fill payment has been made) We give him til aug 19th, After threatening us with legal action?? he finally get a freind to send us most ( not all ) but most of the money though his paypal. At this point, we are tired of dealing with him and just want to move on so we send him the video and chalk the rest owed upto a learning lesson. THEN he has the audacity to contact me and ask for some more edits to be done as one of the speakers would like a copy without their watermark. Obviously, we told him never to contact us again.
Let this be a warning that the leopard rarely changes his spots.
