I believe Thumbtack is using fake leads to get us to pay them so we may contact these "customers". I have given them hundreds and something just doesn't sit right. many times it seems the requests are very similiar or they close the request for a bogus reason but we, the people seeking jobs who have no money in the first place, do NOT get a refund. very unethical. i would like to have a class action lawsuit or at least have this investigated AND BUSTED WIDE OPEN/

I found Ortiz Brothers Modeling through thumbtack. They were 1 of 3 contractors, I decided to hire to replace my roof. Mr. Ortiz came onsite to perform an inspection. The following 2 weeks. I decided to select Ortiz Brothers Modeling to complete my roofing project. We initially agreed to $10,500 an estimate. Once the project was underway. Ortiz discovered additional issues within the Sun Room. In relation to the internal damage of the roof. The estimate was $1,800. Upon completion on the roofing project. I paid a total estimate of $12,300. Ortiz informed me to contact him. If there were any issues with the roof. Honoring the warranty of the workmanship. The first rain occurred a week after. The roof started leaking in the valley area. Between the master bedroom and the sunroom. I called Ortiz the following day. He arranged to come out. To take care of the issue. In which he did. However, the roof leaked again during a second rain. Ortiz never returned.
False advertising and claims such as "5 or more reviews quadruple your chances of getting hired". Not remotely true or accurate Fraudulent fake leads (request/quotes) to bait professionals to buy more "credits" No proper screening/verification process in place to protect professionals from other professionals (in the same field) sending fake request to access profile and steal information such as content, quote wording and pricing. Or "tire kickers" zero intention on purchasing said service Overall suspicious unethical and shady business practices such as when zero credits are reached there is a lull for days on end of request coming in, yet, the second credits are purchased one after the other after the other comes in.
I just purched a house and had not moved in yet. Over the phone he promissed me the best job but Eric did not pre-treat spots (spots sill there) and did not clean any of the peremiters of the rooms. He did not even do under the living room chair. He did not use scotchguard after cleaning. I had to inspect 2 times and it was still only 90% complete. It takes allot to get him to do it right. Be prepared to manage! He texed me telling me a pipe was broken in my basement and it was flooding in order to get me to rush over to pay him when he told me the 2nd time he was done. I had to call the cops in that situation. Forget scotchguard as he does not use real scotchguard but a cheap immitation. I canot be sure he put the immitaion down anywhere. Not Happy after $350.
I am looking for all individuals who are memebers of Thumbtack and suspicous about the validity of leads that Thumbtack claims to provide. I have not had 1 response from any of the leads Thumbtack generated even as I am offering a free lesson!
Most importantly I am looking for a legal team who will pursue a claim against Thumbtack on a pro-bono baisis.
The company is scamming hundreds of professionals who are looking to increase thier businesses. I am asking all current Thumbtack members to document the leads they have received and all correspondence with the customers.
THumbtack cant verfiy the intrigreity of the leads we as professional choose to respond to.
Thumbtack states:
All of the requests on Thumbtack go through a 9 step verification system before they are sent to professionals ,
But there verfication system fails, and we as professionals pay for credits to send our quotes, Not knowing if the person wanting a quote is actual a real person. There are no age or email verication process.
Thumbtack says: Thumbtack uses both automated and manual steps in an attempt to make sure our requests are being generated by legitimate individuals looking for appropriate services, and that these requests contain the necessary information for service professionals to craft a quote for the request. The manual aspect of the process is performed by a specialized request verification team, who is hired and then trained to only work on making sure the requests sent out by Thumbtack are legitimate quality leads.
Anyone can go to there site and get a quote creating a fake name and email - not knowing the true valudation of the intent or actual person many professional send quotes there quotes-- The majority of them get read and never get a reply or Dont even get read- why ?
Maybe because it can be your competior or someone just comparing what you charge?
Maybe just someone waisting your time?
I request that Thumbtack refund all credits to all victims who fall into this If the professionals under go a valudation process then the customer seeker the quote should do the same.
Many sites require users to sign in and register seraching professional services from professionals- I have requested this to Thumbtack via feeback over the phone and the simple reply was they appricate the feedback they will forward it.
I have mention this to them, an in response going back in forth via chat
They decided to refund my account and wrongfully close my account- losing all my reviews and time spent prefecting my profile all becasue I addressed an issue .
I wanted to find someone to perform some work around my condo.
Well I used a man on there, he had good reviews. It wasn't until he started the job that I found out he is not licensed. There are fines to me for using unlicensed handyman. Holy cow. So please check out about licensing in your state because they don't, and who know if they really do a background check. I plan on telling my attorney general.
Dont mess with the elderly because we'll get ya!!!
