The purpose of the report is to bring attention to an obvious problem that workers at this so-called Christian thrift have in serving African American customers.
Currently, we live in a time which includes a lascivious US president and Evangelicals, otherwise known as Trumplicans, who have made it the new normal for racist and prejudice people to come out of the closet and let it be well known that they hate black people. It has become more and more pronounced with both, old and young, who even bring their hatred into their public workplaces. The Thrift 2 Gift thrift store is the type of place which is not friendly towards black customers and it can be felt.
First, with following you from one end of the store to the other and secondly in the level of customer service. For example, I purchased a large piece of furniture which I could have gotten from any second-hand store. The store offered delivery service which was explained to me at the time of purchase. I was given a receipt and told that someone would call me within a few days to schedule a time to deliver the furniture. Great, no problem.
Two weeks went by and I thought that maybe the furniture had been mistakenly sold to someone else. So, I called to be sure that it was still at the store. Again, I was informed that a store representative would reach out to me. The person with whom I spoke also stated that it was not their normal process for deliveries to take as long and that she didn't understand what was happening. Perhaps not. So, here was an employee who thought that she was speaking to a white woman over the telephone and apologized as well as made sure to let me know that my experience was not how the store conducted business. Another week and still no call from the store.
Next time, I stopped by the store to find out what was going on and the poor woman working behind the counter pretended not to know anything. No problem. However, she did call a young white guy from the back to the front of the store so that I could speak directly with him about the delivery. This was the same kid who was in the store when I bought the furniture a month prior and who also wrote down my telephone number in a notebook. A time to delivery my piece of furniture was set up on the spot and I left the store with a day and time. The price originally quoted from date of purchase was unchanged.
On the morning of the delivery, I rearranged my schedule and made space for the new furniture and waited for the guys from the store. After about 15 minutes, I called to find out their ETA. The same kid who scheduled the delivery appointment answered the phone and pretended not to know anything. I firmly reminded him that I had gone into the store and made an in-person appointment for the delivery and that day was the date that he had given me. It was obvious that the employee had no intentions on delivering the furniture to me. He just didn't want to do it for me because he had a problem with my kind of people.
I could hear it in the kid's voice that he didn't want to even talk to me. Then, I told him that I cleared my schedule to make time for the delivery and was waiting at my storage unit where the furniture would be stored. I also said to the employee that if that day was inconvenient, he should have given me a day that worked for him. But, it wasn't about time. The racist kid didn't want to serve a black person. But, he works in a thrift store, which is a place of public accommodation and therefore cannot discriminate against anyone for any reason. The kid could clearly see that I was annoyed and when I handed him the money for the delivery fee, he refused it. I guess he didn't want to touch it. I said, "a deal is a deal" and "I always do the right thing".
I do not know what made that sick, disturbed, mentally ill boy get into the store's truck to uphold their end of the transaction. But, he and another male worker finally showed up an hour later. It took all of my strength in the Lord not to tell that hateful Evangelical Trumplican how disgusted I was by his behavior and that God was watching all of us, even him. These Devils are going to Hell in a handbasket and don't even know it. Their kids and grandchildren are dying from heroin overdoses everyday and are hopeless, pathetic, under-employed losers who believe that black people are actually going to leave America. And, when that does finally happen, America will be great again. Sorry, wrong.
By 2025, white people will be the minority race in America and that is why they are losing their minds with hatred and anger. Black people aren't going anywhere and the Trumplicans do not get to decide our destiny. Coronavirus will not get rid of enough black people for the Trumplicans to feel better about themselves and futures. Nor, will the criminal justice system because the new criminal justice reforms laws are for all offenders, not just white offenders.
This report is a reminder and eye opener for all black people. We must rely on one another to warn about these types of occurrences which have become normal. It may be normal however we do not and will not tolerate it. Call them out. Fight them. Go to social media and put these sick people on blast. Then, get yourself paid when they break the law in order to disparage you.
