I put in a credit application online. I was assigned to Donald. He was very unprepared when I arrived to my appointment. I told him prior, that I was on a time schedule and needed to go into the office. I told him I recently went through a bad "purchase process" that did not go as planned. I advised him of the Bank that had approved me and the amount I wanted to stay around. He totally ignored everything I said and ran my credit though several banks. He picked out cars that were not in my budget. Finally, we settled on a car I felt I could be approved for and with in my guidelines. The car was a 2015 buthad 46K miles already on it. I checked the blue book value, but yet they still priced it way abovce value. I was given some numbers, and after settling on my confort level, I was told I was all good.
I went in to sign my documents. As, I was signing, the finance guy Mike told me what I was signing. Of course, I should have read the info no matter what, but I was on a time schedule and was already late [no excuse though] He basically down played many of the forms I later read and seen how dishonest he was. I drove off the lot happy though. A few hours with the car, Don the sales rep, called and said they needed me to come back in, the bank needed more info. I agreed to come in later that night. After speaking with my aunt who also bought a car from them a few weeks prior [wish I talked to her sooner] I call back and I asked them what was needed so I could make sure I brought it in. I was transferred to the finance guy Mike and Mike advised me that the bank would not approve me for the amount of the car. In fact, they approved me way lower. I let him know that I was upset. I told him how I already knew the bank that would give me more and if they would have listened I wouldnt have gone through this. He was very rude and said I needed to return the car and out the GM on the phone who also said the same thing. I asked them to run it through the other bank but was told they would do no such thing.
The next morning, I returned the car, the sat me down and told me how they called the other bank and confirmed what I orignally said. I let them try to get the financing in which I was approved for more and another car, but because of my distrust for them at that point, I declined the offed for a 2014 and more money down. I was not stupid by far. These unfair business practices must be stopped. After carefully reading my documents over, I found documents stating that it was not fully approved and that I would have to return the car if they could not get financing. There was also another young lady that was told she was approved and she had to come in the next day too and ended up needing to pick out a cheaper car. this is very sad...
