My truck just kept shutting off, so I took my truck to Joel Kern dba Thonotosassa Auto Repair, it took about 3 weeks, Kern said he had completed the repairs on my truck and I could pick it up and that I owe $1,859.24. When I arrived at the shop my truck was gone. Kern without giving a reason, had my truck towed to his friends shop, Bill's Transmissions without my authorization or notifying me first.
When I contacted Bill's Transmissions, I was told that Kern had request this shop to begin repairs on my truck, again this is without my authorization and I was never notified. I was also told that now I owe Bill's Transmission for the towing and repairs @ $618.43, by the time I got a ride to Bill's Transmissions, "Kern's friend" had stripped the motor beyond recognition, hiding Kern's botched repairs and that I owe over $3,000.00 and wanted to charge me an extra $2,000.00, to reassemble the motor, not running. I request return of my truck I was refused until I paid for them over $5,000.00, for stripping the motor.
My truck would run, it just kept shutting off, now it does not have a motor in it. I contacted Kern on several occasions requesting Kern to get my truck back. Kern refused to get my truck back, depriving me of my truck. This is theft.
"By law" the shops are not to deprive me of my vehicle, and "by law" are liable to reassemble the motor back in the condition it was received.
Being without my truck for six months, I contacted Consumer Services, who did the mediation and got my truck back to me but without the motor. Consumer Services advised me for that since I refused to pay either shop that no violations have been committed. I find this hard to believe since I could drive my truck, it did run and had a motor in it.
Due to the neglect, fraudulent acts, and conspiracy of these two shops, they have put me in a financial bind, for now I am forced to either purchase a new motor or a new vehicle.
Consumer Services had began a investigation until they discovered no monies were paid., but did state that Joel Kern dba Thonotosassa Auto Repair did steal my truck, and to report it to the Sheriff's Office, so I did and they find it to be a civil matter.
My truck was my livelihood and I now stand alone, unemployed and on food stamps, due to the criminal acts of these two shops.
