Thompson and Son Moving and Storage (better known as Thompson and Son, Inc.), told me they could move my apartment household, of a single person, 14-miles locally for 945.00, after I told them I was looking for good movers along with this offer of payment by me which was utterly reasonable too.
However, the devastation and shock came once the movers got everything I had own into their look alike *rental* truck; then, they suddently demanded 1,064 *more* money that included 200.00 for storage for that day and each day forward until they got what they wanted out of me. I almost loss everything I own to this so-called moving business, if it wasn't for a friend to borrow. I had to call the police after I was pushed too.
Listen: two out of three movers, who came to my door, were Labor Ready workers, according to the police report; yet, they advertise as a trustworthy, white glove, family-own business who come in dirty, rental trucks. Additionally, their rating at Better Business Bureau - BBB is a *F*. Plus, they want cash; yet, most people receive a receipt. IRS? You think?
The estimate included: *Full service move door to door *White Gloves service *Loading and Unloading *blanket wrapping and quilt pads *Free use of wardrobes boxes *Disassemble and reassemble of your furniture
The scheduled moving date was June 28th at 2pm and movers never arrived, then after negotiating the elevator reservation with my building I was offered another elevator reservation for June 30th at 2:30pm and the moving was rescheduled with company for 2:30pm, employees arrived at 7pm after the elevator cut off time. I asked the movers why they were not using blankets or quilts to protect my furniture as offered in your quote for white glove service, they replied they were not given any blankets or quilts with the truck and had no tools with them.
Due to their late arrival I helped them but they finished loading the truck at 9pm and couldn’t make it on time to unload it at my new location (cut off time 5pm).
I received a call from the company to let me know that my furniture will be delivered the next day at 9am and was suggested to buy an air mattress for the night and send the receipt to the company!!!
The next day a different crew arrived to unload the truck, which had a mechanical problem and couldn’t park in front of my building. The rain started and they dragged all my furniture on the floor damaging several pieces for which I have filled a claim, which has not be resolved as of today. The supervisor asked me to pay for the balance in cash for an amount of $375 plus $60 in tips and when I asked for the receipt he said the company only uses electronic receipts and I should receive it very shortly, I never received it. The next day my bank alerted me that 2 charges of $170 and $236.19 had been applied to my account on top of the $50 deposit and the cash payment. During my call to the company Saturday July 2nd to complain about this issue, I was told they will investigate the situation with the supervisor and these charges would be reversed to my account, as of today no credit has been applied to my account and damages to my furniture not compensated.
