Myself and my fiance walked into this dealership in The Spring to replace a his vehicle after he has his car totaled on his way to work one day. His insurance gave him a check and we returned to the place he had previously purchased his car.
I don't know why, but he went with them. They were extremely pushy as any other sales people, although this time they were worse!!
I have been very sick for years and came home to The Chicago Land Area. After living in another state for many years. To seek better doctors care at one of "The best hospitals in Chicago!"
My fiance and I thought we'd look into an inexpensive used vehicle to get me around to and from the doctors. I didn't want to buy it from there but this salesmen convinced my fiance that this car was "previously owned by a mechanic there and it was so very well taken care of!"
Thee oldest trick in the book!! I wanted to run but he believed them!! We needed the car so we took it. I didn't want him to take ownership until they followed thru with several things they claimed they would do, but then again. My fiance thought I was being paranoid!! MEN.... LISTEN TO YOUR WOMAN!
The dealership had him get in the car without my knowledge of it (while I used the ladies room) to legalize that it was his because he drove it off the lot!! He didn't realize what I did!! It was too late!! I told him NOT to do it!! Make them follow thru first on their promises of what they claimed they would fix on the vehicle first!! Again.. He thought I was being paranoid!!
We had to bring the car back several times and chase the sales rep to get the things we were promised done!! The paint job they were supose to do on the door. See. It was now going to be done to their satisfaction because as far as they were concerned it was a done deal and it looked horrible!!
It was fine.... Or so we thought. I thought maybe I was being a little hard on them all but when a car dealership works on commission or anything else you may buy.... Look Out!!! There are dealerships that don't do this anymore and will pay their salesmen a straight paycheck now to take the pressure off or so that's what they want you to think. NO PRESSURE SALES... SURE.... RIGHT!!!!!
They still have to make a quota if they want to keep their jobs there and they will do anything and say anything to get that number they need!! Never ever go in to buy a car at the end of the month!! The pressure is on and unless you have a mechanic and back up with you. DON'T DO IT!!
And certainly do NOT go with anyone that thinks your paranoid!! BEWARE!!! My other half doesn't think that anymore!! In fact... I bet he wishes he would have listened to what I was trying to tell him!!
Especially with what has happened now!!
We have had the vehicle 7/8 months. I was going to a doctors appointment on Wednesday 12/14/16. The first really cold day of The Winter. I warmed up the care 15 minutes and got in to go. I notices how cold it was in the car, and thought it was taking longer to warm up because of how cold it was that day. 45 Minutes into the drive and 15 minutes warming it up. A total of an hour and no hot air. The vehicle started to have problems.
First the Maintance light came on. Called my fiance and told him. He told me to check the airconditioner button. Okay I thought the same thing but it wasn't on. I already checked with all the freezing air pouring out. The fans were working. The vehicle starting making grinding noises and I knew I was breaking down. I told him I had to let him go and I would call him back when I could.
Freezing and my teeth chattering. I am praying I make it around the corner and into the parking lot out of traffic. I do. It totally dies before I could park it. I go to restart it to pull it in. The thermastat goes from hot to cold quickly and I move it to the parking space and it dies.
I thought okay. It's a cold day. Battery? Starter? Water Pump? Never did I imagine the entire engine would be cracked and I need to replace the entire engine!!
So. We have called everyone and their brother to look at this and give us their opionion. Same thing over and over. Replace the entire engine and the labor etc. $5000. What? $5000.
We just finaced this vehicle and his. We owe $7000+ for this one and we have to put $5000 into a vehicle we just purchased to get me back and forth to the doctors that was in such good shape because a mechanic at Thomas Toyota Of Joilet owned it and took excellent care of it? And we paid over blue book for it because it had an after factory radio in it he installed that's why he wanted over blue book?
NOW I KNOW I HAVE BEEN SCAMMED AND FEEL LIKE A FOOL!!! WHY? WHY DID I BELIEVE THEM?!
SO I go ahead and call John the Service Manager balling my eyes out about this whole thing. He said, "we could trade it in." What? We just paid $7000 for a car 7/8 months ago that doesn't work from your mechanic that took "GREAT CARE OF IT!"

Just called the dealership once more before I placed this ad. Spoke to The Sales Manager there to see if I did go through with a trade in (like the Service Manager- John) suggested what they might give me as far as a trade in on the car they sold me. The Sales Manager Sal.... (chuckles) when I asked him how much he's give me for a trade in on this with a cracked motor?
Sal (The sales manager) states "NOT MUCH!" Insisting at one point that they don't offer extended warranties on used vehicles and the sales rep (Abdul) was correct in telling us this. And then states that perhaps the finacial manager was the one that told us about it. He (Sal) couldn't tell us who had (my other half) sign the papers stating he was refusing the extended warrantee that he NOW claims they did offer!
I tell Sal (The sales manager at this dealership) are you sure he wasn't signing thinking that he was signing up. Because it was a used vehicle and we were very concerned about buying it that is why their salesmen came up with the story to tell us about the mechanic at their dealership who previously owned it and it was only owned by one owner. Their mechanic. Although everytime I asked to speak to him... He was too busy at work and couldn't be distrubed!!
Then.... When I asked Sal (The sales manager there) how much the extended warrantees were to figure out if they were taking out on the car payments for it or not. He couldn't give me a straight answer. He told me about the Platinum, Gold and Silver, but no amounts or prices. So my thought is.... is it something they just had my (other half) sign off on due to it being as expensive as the vehicle it's self?
Never was any extended warrantee offered!! I would have looked into it!! My other half would have looked into it!! Why not!! $7000 isn't chump change especially when you add that up with interest and now and additional $5000 we have to sink into it just to get it to be driveable once more!!
COULD HAVE HAD A NEW CAR!! SO SICK OVER IT ALL!! IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION OR IDEAS WE COULD USE PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT US THROUGH THIS AD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!
