The Three Oranges Reviews

  • Dec 1, 2021

I contracted 3 Oranges to do a bathroom renovation in November 2020, and they ended up being my biggest regret. I should have taken the first hint when they increased the agreed price the day of because “supposedly” they did not consider the tiled ceiling but since I already waited for them 2 months, I went along with the new price and agreed. I initially spoke to Santiago, who gave the job to his business partner Michael.

The timeframe of the work was pretty accurate, however the end result was disastrous. The first time it was finished, they left me with a leaking pipe from the sink, bathtub that would warp/move when you stepped inside, leaking toilet, doors that would not close, slanted wall, bubbling wall next to tub, uneven floor tiles and the ability to clearly hear people using the bathroom on the second floor (I brought the noise situation before they closed the ceiling and during their work to see if there was any material they can put up there to reduce hearing people's personal business, but they told me not to worry about it).

Fast forward 1 month after completion, Michael fixed the leaks and decided to try and put cement under the tub from the basement to prevent it from moving since there was nothing holding it in place besides the screws on the studs. After this, he filled up the rest of the space with “Stuff it” foam which obviously did not work.

3 months after completion and attempting to contact Michael for 2 months to finish fixing everything else, he decided to go MIA and not respond. Santiago thankfully responded and attempted to fix what he left. Unfortunately, that was not much since the quality of work was s****.>

I was very taken back by his response after I trusted him and his company to work on my home. Plus why would I pay for something that should have been done right to begin with. I thought Santiago would be different from other contractors out there but in the end, he was the same.

Now I am left saving up over the next year or so just to fix what was supposed to be a 1 time project. 6 months later, I am left with the following;

- Damaged bathtub from when they re-installed it the second time (cracks)

- Random foul sewage smell that comes from the tub drain, due to the lack of a P-Trap

- Uneven wall bathroom tiles

- Slanted floor

- Glued outlet because it was sticking out of the wall

- Loose floor tiles, along with missing grout likely due to the movement

- Slanted/uneven wall that makes the bathroom look narrow, when its not

- Closet and bathroom doors that wont close due to poor installation

- Bad plumbing job that causes a person to hear water from the second floor in the bathtub, according to a handyman, probably due to the company not putting a P-trap when they did the plumbing of the tub

- a radiator which they told me they would make look nice, just spray painted and left with residue

- Being able to hear people's business in the second floor bathroom clearly due to lack of noise reduction material which I specifically requested and was willing to pay more to have installed but they never did

- Random bubbled paint on the other side of the tub because they didn’t finish the tile wall past the tub

- New door with the original molding which was damaged from the demolition

- Rust coming from tub faucet even after all new pipes were installed

- And a narrow bathroom when the bathroom was originally proportionate

I never expected perfection, but I do expect a job done right. I just hope no one ever has to go through this again. It goes without saying I will NOT ever be using 3 Oranges again.
