My wife and I were interested in purchasing a lot for possible building on for retirement and took a tour of the property. We were not interested in purchasing that day but did like the lot we looked at and thought even if we decided not to build that we could recoup and at least break even if we kept it a few years. When we told the sales rep we would think it over, they turned to the high pressure, "someone else is looking at it too and it won't be avaiable and if it is, it will be for 7k higher". We were still reluctant to do it at the time but I asked what the term of the loan was after getting the price breakdown. "10 year note", the rep said.
Doing the rough math we decided to purchase as we had a 3 day backout. When I reviewed the contract the next day I could not find the terms and called the rep back and he assured me it was indeed a 10 year note, again. Fast forward to last year when I thought we should have a fairly low balance to payoff and it seemed way high. I called the office and they told me no, it was a 20 year note. I was livid and went to the VP of DD and she completely dimissed me and suggested I get legal representation. No concern, no empathy, nothing....this coming from a VP leader of a sales company. Hmmmm.....something very stinky. Would never do businees with this company...complete shysters.
