My 87-year-old step-father’s home was flooded during the April 19th, 2016 floods. On August 16th, 2016, he signed a contract and hired Mike Breaux, a local Pastor and owner of The Remodel Pro to complete the repairs to his home. There was a specific draw schedule laid out in the contract for when additional funds would be paid out. Mike was given an initial draw of $20,000.00 and told us he would begin work on September 26th, 2016. He said he would return on August 17th, 2016 to walk the home with us and get the layout for the kitchen, utility room and both bathrooms so he could go ahead and place the order for the cabinets since the could take 6 to 8 weeks to come in (estimated cost of cabinets is $15,000 before Mike’s discounts). He said this would expedite the process as the cabinets would arrive shortly after work was started on September 26th, 2016. To date the cabinets have not been ordered and very little work has been done. Also, inferior concrete work and sheetrock work were performed and we have been trying to get these issues as well as multiple other issues resolved for months now.
On two separate occasions, Mike lied to my step-sister, who has power of attorney for her father, about the level of work completed to obtain additional draws of $15,000.00 and $10,000.00. We were unaware of this until after the funds were deposited. He now has $45,000.00 of my step father’s money. Based off of the detailed contract that was signed, Mike has spent very little of the money he has received and done very little of the work outlined in the contract. He has repeatedly ignored numerous phone calls, ignored e-mails or text messages. The last correspondence we had with him was on Monday, February 13th, 2017 via text. He has refused to respond since then.
We want to warn of others of his business practices. We also want most my dad’s money returned. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
