The Money Source, Inc. Reviews
I also had the same issue as the previous complaint, about LoanCare. I went through a very similar experience when they changed from LoanCare to The Money Source.
But my complain today is about another situation with them. My payments have always been made (for over 10 yrs) through a 3rd party called Equity Accelerator. It automatically gets taken out of my account every 2 weeks and I've never had to intervene. Today, I got a call from TMS saying that didn't get my payment. I called back and found out that in fact, they did have my payment, but that my escrow had gone up slightly and for some reason, they didn't get the full amount including that increase. So my payment was sitting there, a few dollars short, and they weren't applying it to my account.
I was told there would be no late fee and I could make a payment for the difference over the phone. However, I had a meeting to attend in a few minutes so I said I'd call back after my meeting. A few minutes later, I called back to make the difference in payment, which I was told originally would be $42 and some change. This time, I was told there was a late fee. So they now wanted $86 and some change.
Over double what I was originally told a few minutes earlier. There is also a $12 fee for making a payment, included in that. I told the rep that I had just talked to someone minutes earlier who said there was no late fee. She argued with me that there was and that it was my fault for not making adjustments to my payment amount. Well, in over 10 yrs of my payments being made automatically through Equity Accelerator, through many changes in escrow amounts, I have NEVER had to contact Equity Accelerator to adjust anything, EVER. Yet, suddenly today it is my fault. How is it that this has run flawlessly for over 10 years through many escrow changes without me ever intervening? Why is it that they conveniently called after a late fee would be assessed (and referred to this as a "courtesy call")? Something isn't right.
