The MEGA Life and Health Insurance Company Reviews
Dec 18, 2015
I was a customer of Mega Health Insurance Co. around 2005 - 2006. Not only did I have to report them they arbitrarily raised my premiums.
In 2006 I was treated for a malignant brain tumor - surgery, MRIs, Care in ICU. Every time I checked my account all of the claims were shown as "Under review". I finally had to contact the Colorado Dept of Insurance.
The woman I spoke to there had no love for Mega Insurance. She proceeded to give them a deadline in which they either started paying claims or provide an explanation for not paying claims. Two days before the deadline - guess what? Claims were being paid.
Thankfully shortly after I cancelled my policy with Mega I was able to get on Medicare. I will NEVER recommend anyone purchase insurance from this company.
We took out a health policy with Mega life and health in 2000. The premiums were reasonable, but had a cap on everything. Lab tests, for example, were capped at $1000/day with a $500 deductible. Our deductible was supposed to be $2500 up to 3 times a year. My husband had prostate surgery and the hospital bill was $21,000 and the doctor bill was $7500 and we did not meet our deductible. I never did figure out how they manuevered to do that. Our premiums starting out were $235/mo., then went to $415 and this was just for him. It is crappy, crappy insurance and I would never recommend it to anyone.
