For some reason Deborah McIntyre (Muffhyms Cattery) believes it is okay to keep people's hard-earned money. I do not know how she can sleep at night! She is an expert at this. If anyone is currently looking into purchasing from her cattery I warn you about signing her application because it states non-refundable. Other catteries will refund if a kittern is not purchased. Please check into them. I can MAYBE understand not refunding the $200.00 but NOT keeping my additional $300.00 when I did not purchase a kitten!
Upon finding Deborah McIntyre on the Internet I made contact with her. She stated she needed a $200.00 deposit if I was intrested in purchasing one of her Himalayan kittens that were due shortly. I sent in my $200.00 check on 3-9-16. She states in her application that this amount is non-refundable and is to be passed on to the next litter if you decide to not purchase from the first litter. She states if you want first choice from the litter that an additional $300.00 is required which I sent her on 3-24-16.
The first litter was born but Deborah claimed the only female kitten in this litter had to be put down because it was missing an eye so I would have to wait for the next litter. At that time, I called and text her that she should mail me back my $300.00 check but she stated if she did that I would be back to square one unless she held my $300.00 check. I reluctantly agreed that she could hold my check with the promise that I would be getting my female kitten in the timeline we discussed (which was suppose to be before the cat I own turned 1 yr old in May).
Deborah did not hold my check...she cashed it without any kitten for me to choose from. Deborah assured me that another litter was to be born at any time. She stated that the vet told her she could expect about 5 kittens but when the mother gave birth, Deborah said there were only 2 kittens born. When I asked what happened to the 5 that the vet said she was going to have, Deborah said she was guessing since she did NOT take her cat to the vet, yet she told me she did. At this point, I noticed several discrepencies in what Deborah was telling me and I began to question purchasing a kitten from her.
Many texts and emails were exchanged back and forth and I then decided I did not want to purchase a kitten from her. I did not feel she was an ethical person. When I said this to Deborah she informed me that my $500.00 was NOT refundable. So, I decided since she was NOT going to refund my money that I would purchase a kitten after all...I don't take lightly not getting something for my $500. By this time it was the middle of June.
I decided to drive out to her cattery to see the kitten. I was not happy with the conditions that her cats and kittens were living in. She had them in large cages in her garage. There was a very overpowering smell of urine as soon as you enter the garage even though she had fans blowing. She had several adult cats and two with litters. There were approximately 9 kittens. The litter boxes were full and I asked if I could assist with cleaning the litter boxes. She assured me she would get it done herself that day.
So, again, I decided I did not want to purchase from her. I was not happy with the conditions of her cattery and also the fact that so much time had passed from the original time I wanted a kitten for my other cat. I contacted her again via text and email to request my $300.00 be refunded. She said that maybe she would refund the $300.00. I've yet to see it and don't believe I will. She good at telling lies. So, if you are looking at purchasing from Deborah McIntyre...think twice! Check all of these complaints that are posted regarding her cattery. I've never had anyone keep my money for something I did not purchase. It looks like Deborah McIntyre is making a good living his way!
