When I hired attorney Shawn Jones, he told me that his first name was Shawn but when I checked with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, I found out that his first name is Christopher and that Shawn is his middle name. I hired attorney Christopher Shawn Jones to help me with a horrible case of infiltration of cigarette smoke in my condominium.
I contracted professional technicians to do the forensic investigation, and they proved that the smoke infiltrated my unit through the exhaust vents of the bathrooms, that the smoke came from the defendant’s unit, that the exhaust vents of the two condo units were connected, and, that the exhaust vents were a common element of the condominium.
I gave to attorney Christopher Shawn Jones the above technical study; police reports that verified the infiltration of cigarette in my unit and that the defendant admitted to the police that her smoke infiltrated the unit; and the emails from the defendants’ attorneys acknowledging the smoke infiltration in my unit.
I notified attorney Christopher Shawn Jones of the work done in my unit to contain the smoke. This work consisted in the sealing of the exhaust vents, the removal of the walls between the two condo units to fill the spaces with insulation foam, and putting double walls painted with special paint to remove the smoke. The cigarette smoke had caused damages to my master bedroom and bathroom, and I also provided to attorney Christopher Shawn Jones with the Restoration Companies’ reports that verified these damages.
Attorney Christopher Shawn Jones did not present to the court any of the above, and instead; he stated to the court that the smoke infiltrated my unit through the air ducts of the air conditioning-heating system, and provided to the court a report that has nothing to do with my case and that stated that these air ducts had water.
Attorney Christopher Shawn Jones verified firsthand the horrible infiltration of cigarette smoke, our poor living conditions, and the damages that it caused to my unit, however, he falsely told the court that I had “engaged” in settlement discussions with one of the defendants, and that he believed that my case was “in essence fees levied against me and nothing else, and that this case could be settled by a waiver of these attorneys’ fees”.
Attorney Christopher Shawn Jones presented erroneous dates to the court that did not correspond to the facts and that were crucial to prove my case against one of the defendants for retaliation.
Based on the statements of the attorney Christopher Shawn Jones, the judge ruled out against me. Since the air conditioning-heating ducts are not common elements, the defendants, my neighbor and the condo association, did not have responsibility in the case for the infiltration of the cigarette in my unit.
Attorney Christopher Shawn Jones did not tell me about the judge ruling. I had to ask him for it, and when he did it, three weeks had already passed from its issuance. He stated that he forgot to tell me because he was busy with his Evanston-Alderman- election-campaign; that he did not know why the judge said that the ducts were not common elements; that he did not read anything about water in the ducts; and that the court ruling was final.
