We retained George M. Gilmer, Esq. to represent us against ACS to have a record expunged that was already deemed unfounded and dismissed by the court. We believe that we had all of the evidence and proof that the original call to ACS was false. George M. Gilmer, Esq. advertises that he is an expert in dealing with ACS, so we gave him $1,500 to process this expungement request for us. Pending a successful expungement, we planned on filing suit against the originator of the false report.
George M. Gilmer, Esq. was mostly unreachable and unresponsive after our initial meeting when that money was exchanged. At one point after many attempts to reach him, he emailed me a copy of what seemed to be a hastily written letter to ACS asking for my record to be expunged. This was weeks after our initial meeting and was close to the deadline for filing such a request. The letter did not provide any proof or evidence to support the request.
Some few months later, and after numerous attempts to reach him, George M. Gilmer, Esq. finally emailed me with what appeared to be a response from ACS acknowledging his request and offering him to provide evidence. To my knowledge, George M. Gilmer, Esq. did not provide nor offer any such evidence or proof in response to this letter. I also did not receive a copy of this letter from ACS myself.
Some months later, George M. Gilmer, Esq. called to tell me that he received a denial letter from ACS regarding my expungement, and that because he was out sick, the letter was received some time ago, therefore the decision to appeal would have to be made very quickly, and he also said it would cost several thousands of dollars in court costs (which I am not sure if this is actually true.) I also did not receive a copy of this letter from ACS myself.
At that point, my opinion of George M. Gilmer, Esq. was that he is a very poor lawyer, but since I still had time to file an appeal, I decided to proceed on my own with the evidence which I believed would support my claim. I asked George for a copy of the denial letter. His response was that it was in storage and that he would have to request a new copy from ACS. For the past six months, George M. Gilmer, Esq. has neither provided me with any such letter nor responded to my attempts to reach him. The deadline for appealing the denial has now passed.
We have every reason to believe that with proper representation, we would have proven false intent on the originator of our ACS case, already unfounded and dismissed, and this would have resulted in a full expungement of the ACS case record. We then would have followed with civil suits against the originator of the ACS case and also ACS itself. We believe that George M. Gilmer, Esq.'s poor representation for us is now preventing us from furthering our cause since all time limits have now passed.
Our opinion is that George M. Gilmer, Esq. is a very poor lawyer who provides such inadequate representation that any outcome is sure to be negative for his clients. Since other reviews of him on the internet claim that he is unethical, we believe it is possible that George M. Gilmer, Esq. takes money from his clients knowing full well that he will not be providing adequate services for them.
We have filed this report in good faith and are providing our honest opinion and experience with George M. Gilmer, Esq. who represents the Gilmer Law Firm, PLLC.

My good friend found this attorney online and sought out legal services for a tough financial situation she was in. She went to his office in Brooklyn and gave him money to pursue the case. Although very personable in the consultation, this attorney had poor responsiveness. In the weeks following the visit she could never get him on the phone. She left tons of messages on his personal phone and voice service, not once did he ever get back to her to follow up on the case. George EVENTUALLY got back to her and stated that she would have to pay him additional money to move her case to the top of his priorities - WTF????
My friend decided to discontinue his services, after receiving no service, and requested a refund for the monies she had paid him. After hearing his promises to return the money, but not seeing it happen, she contacted her bank and got the charges reversed.
Months after this, the bank sent her a letter stating that The Gilmer Law Firm disputed the charges, leaving her bank account Overdrawn by almost $1,000. Smh......
She now has to jump through multiple hoops to get this issue resolved with him and the bank after all these months, which is particularly distressing because she has all these expenses to cover for her son's prom and graduation. Money she doesn't have. He had no right to dispute charges for which he NEVER provided a service.
I would NOT recommend this attorney. SHAME ON HIM for his shady business practices. You don't do this to people, especially people who you feel are vulnerable and have no voice. Our friend is filing an official complaint with the NYS Bar. BEWARE.
