I purchased a mini Australian cattle dog from https://www.thecowgirlsok.com back in 2016. After doing some research I had basically come to the conclusion that these were not purebred Australian cattle dogs as mini's don't truly exist. The owner has an entire portion of her website dedicated to explaining that her dogs are 100% purebred. I ended up getting the puppy that I wanted anyway, taking a chance.
I recently had a DNA test done and she is 50% Australian Cattle Dog and 50% mixed breed terrier. it went back further than 3 generations, so it was not able to pinpoint an exact breed. It did however say the most likely was Chihuahua as well as rat terrier. the exact two dogs she names, claiming have never been used to get these dogs "mini". She also used to have pics on her old website of a rat terrier on her farm.
The owner was great to communicate with until she was paid in full. Nearly impossible to get a hold of her after. Nightmare trying to get the dog. She kept claiming she had issues with flights for a couple weeks and could not give a definitive answer as to when to expect the dog. i had to drive about an hour to pick her up so it wasn't something i could do immediately without planning. She was very rude in emails as well when i explained my worries with her. My dog also had two different kinds of works when i finally got her.
Don't get me wrong, I love my dog and am very happy with her. I got quite lucky as she has a lot of energy obviously but is a very good-tempered dog. great to take on hikes, snowshoeing, mountain biking, etc. As much as i love having a smaller Australian cattle dog, i would never use this breeder again.
