The Blankenship Law Firm, P.S. Reviews

  • Oct 3, 2016

I hired the Blankenship law firm at a time there were few reviews posted in the hope that I had chose the right law firm. That was far from the truth! I made the biggest mistake in going with this law firm and trusting that they had my best interest at hand. Scott Blankenship strung my case along for years, moving files from one place to the next just to keep adding expenses. Little did I know less qualified attorneys were put on my case and the attorneys billed me for training in ethics. I consulted with several attorneys and was told that the Blankenship firm did everything to their advantage and I as a client should have never signed up with them. Not only did I go through the loss of my job and expected this law firm to be taking care of me as their client but in the end they took my settlement and sent me threats of suing if I posted reviews about it. Scott Blankenship never once said I want to make you as my client happy so let's come to an agreement, instead he says 'I got the best outcome' yes, you're right Scott you took the settlement for YOURSELF and did not care about your client. I hope all of Seattle can see just how well you treat your clients.

Read the fine print for Scott Blankenship's law firm in your fee agreement. It may say 40% or his attorney fees but you are actually looking at double that when it comes to his overly padded bills and your settlement amount. Here are the real numbers: He will get over 83% of your settlement and you will get less then 17%. If he had put the real numbers in his contract, no one would sign up for failure with him.

Don't fall for the "I put in 40% because my fees are always within that range or under and I always get the case done effeciently". It is a complete lie.

It took him years to handle my case and my fellow employee had EEOC move faster then Blankenship. Blankenship could not even obtain the files for a EEOC case that I was involved in. The governmental system moves faster then Scott Blankenship's firm, yet full staff at Blankenship is on your case hours and hours at a time when it comes to billing but nothing happens for years.

You will NEVER receive a bill for what he or his staff are really billing you. Beware of his tactics and do not do business with this firm.

Once a settlement is on the table, as it was inevitable with my case since other employees were involved. Mr. Blankenship will then wait to hear what the settlement amount will be finally agreed upon. At the end of the mediation he will print out a stack of bills and throw it down on the table to you. You will never see any of this until Scott Blankenship knows what the settlement amount is so he can somehow show you that your bills now almost equal that amount. It is amazing how Mr. Blankenship works that. He wasted your entire time with his firm because every penny should go to him.

I had to hire another attorney to review his bills and found Mr. Blankenship billed higher rates for less qualified attorneys. Another bill was $1750.00 but Blankenship would mark it up to $3,850.00 which did not cociencede with the backup documentation. What a scam this firm runs!

If you think that is unfair and you try to tell him to reduce his unreasonable bills he will tell you that if you sign to agree to the settlement, he will negotiate his bills after you sign the settlement and then he will go back on his word. Once you sign he will say "I will not negotiate". I offered him 50/50 but he would not accept, he wanted it all.

How can a ethical attorney do such a thing to his client? How can the attorney you trusted to take your case lie to you? If you fight him as I have he will threaten and bully you to get every last penny so that you as a client walk away unhappy with nothing. You lost your job, went through all the stress of a lawsuit only for Mr. Blankenship to take everything.

Mr. Blankenship's firm is greedy and only in it for themselves. They care nothing about their clients and even disclose other case details by email that are a "mistake". I wonder how many times he sends other case details out to other clients by "mistake".

The man should be out of business and not take advantage of people.

Scott C. G. Blankenship and his law firm are thiefs and completely deceptive to their clients.

I was emailed other case files from clients by "mistake" and told to delete them. I wonder how many cases go out to other people without their knowledge.

I hired Mr. Blankenship with the understanding from him that he is efficient but yet he did not file my case for over a year after repeated emails asking what was going on with it. I kept hearing that it was being worked on but it was not. Had his firm been honest from the start to say that they had not even filed the case, I would not be writing this. I would have found someone competent that had my best interest as a client at hand.

It took almost 3 years for a very straightforward case. Cases similar to mine were done in 1 year and everyone was shocked that it took Mr. Blankenship 3 years for a simple retaliation case. Mr. Blankenship's advantage was to drag it out longer and longer so that it helped cushion the billing for the Blankenship firm.

Blankenship fees are completely excessive and unreasonable. No place in your agreement with Blankenship will it say that you need to pay for the lawyer to take taxis, go through training to benefit his law firm, and pay for lunches on their hourly rate as a client. It should say "lunches will be billed to you as a client along with our $500/hr". Another example: If you match the mediator bill to the bill that is submitted by the Blankenship firm, you will see that it was marked up to be triple the amount to billed to you as a client. An absolute scam.

Mr. Blankenship clearly does not have the best interest of the client at hand. He threatens his clients and then if you stand up to his scams, he will threaten to sue you for exposing him.

Stay far, far away from this law firm.

They will charge you for eight people on the clock, lunches for the lawyers, large amounts of hours moving files from one place to the next, and NOT working on the case.

Since they claim to have so much experience in employment law, it is amazing to see how much legal research is billed to be at almost $40,000. Apparently, the lawyers do not have that much experience to bill you for being an expert.

Mr. Blankenship's inefficiences had witnesses for the case complaining that his law firm was on borderline harrassment, interviewing and re-interviewing witnesses, and then having their paralegal Greg Roth fight with witnesses to the point that they wanted to give up on helping the case.

The attorney owes the highest duty to the client and Mr. Blankenship's law firm does not have the clients best interest at hand. Do yourself a favor and find someone that will do justice for you and treat you in fairness so that you would want to recommend him to your friends and family. This firm should be out of business.
