I hired The Bat Guys Bat Removal Service in September of 2016 to get bats out of my house. They installed four bat exclusion devices on my roof. They offer a 10 year warranty for their service so they came back in the summers of 2017, 2018, and 2019 for service.
After almost four years of having their bat exclusion devices on my roof my upstairs ceilings started to show water damage starting in 2019. The water damage kept getting worse and seven of my upstairs ceilings now need to be repaired. We hired a roofing company and it was easy for them to conclude that the ceiling damage came from the four bat exclusion devices that were screwed to our roof. The damage to our ceilings was directly below the devices and around them.
I had two phone conversations with The Bat Guys and they told me the screws they use protect from leaks and they cover them with silicone. The problem is that over time the roof changes and holes around the screws occur which allows leaks. And the silicone they used to protect the roof actually did more harm then good as it started to lift up and ripped to top layer of our shingles off which also created leaks.
After careful examination we found screws not put in properly and one hole without a screw not in at all. All leading to a lot of water damage to our ceilings. This was all discovered and verified by the roofing company. I have pictures to prove everything. The bat exclusion devices were removed by the roofing company we hired to fix our roof.
I shared this all, including the pictures with The Bat Guys. Their response to me was they would send a technician out to make sure the roofing company sealed up the bat entry ways adequately and they would charge me an additional $250 to do this service. I could not believe they wanted me to pay them more money. I told them in an email that all I wanted is my original payment of service back ($1250) even though that wouldn't cover all the damage. They never called me back even though I left message.
