You are sold a merchant account to accept credit cards. The merchant account company arranges for a lease on equipment. You are only informed of the third party lease when you are on the phone with the company to get the terminal online. You accept the lease with monthly payments. Within minutes of acceptance the service is cancelled. The lease company does not care about your service as they claim you have a lease only with them on equipment. The merchant account company and the lease company have knowledge of each other as they are in it together. When you try to resolve the problem neither company can be reached by phone, or certified or registered mail. They target companies who have had terminated merchant accounts. Then your supposed account goes to the collections company The Adjustment Bureau. harasses you for years trying to collect the supposed debt for a service not being provided. TAB acknoledges the scam but claims they have an enforceable contract. You have no equipment (in my case I returned it the lease company), and no service. Quite a scam! Filed for Bankruptcy in 1999, have had The Adjustment Bureau try and collect on a debt that was discharged. I have filed complaints with the BBB and have had The Adjustment bureau stop and DELETE from my credit file on three seperate accasions the collection only to have them re-list a collection account on my credit file every time since 2001. They do not return phone calls, they hang up on you when you try and resolve the matter! When I checked with the BBB they show many, many complaints agianst this unprofessional collection company! Where is the California Attorney's office?? Should they not investigate this company! Scott west valley city, Utah
I purchased four cell phones from WCI in 1999. My husband (whom I am now separated) paid the bills from his business account. When we received bills from AT&T he informed me that they had been paid. It was not until I started reviewing my credit reports that I realized they were not. I received many calls from a representative of The Adjustment Bureau and he sent me copies of the bill. In February 2004 he made me a deal if I paid $500.00 the account would be closed and this would be reflected on my credit report. I checked my report in May and July and it did not reflect a closure on this account. When I called the company they said that the representative never noted on my chart that the $500 was a final payment. I was informed that I still owe $264 for one account and $167 on another. I requested a statement as to what is on these bills and never got one. Marguerite Riverside, California
