I contacted the Appliance Repair Team to repair my Bosch dishwasher in late September, early October 2021. Upon the first visit, the technician said it is probably the drain. I agreed to a drain replacement. He came a few weeks later, (2nd trip) and installed a drain that was not identical to the one he took out.
When it wouldn’t start, he said it was the control board. I committed to a new control board. My thought was that with a new drain and a new control board, I would basically have a new dishwasher. On the next trip out (3rd trip), he brought a control board and he said it was the wrong one. Then he came a 4th time (by this time it was during the Christmas holidays) and again, he brought a control board that didn’t work. He said it was the wrong one again. He said he would send it to their ‘lab’ to try and modify it. After this, I called every week and they told me the part was on order.
This week, January 17th (5 months later), I finally got fed up and sent them a letter, stating that I wanted a full refund. They called me and stated that the control board is not made anymore and my dishwasher is not repairable. They offered me $150 dollars back. Not only am I completely disgusted at their poor business practices, but they are a poor representative of these major manufacturers. In fact, I consider them fraudulent.
I have paid this company $1,076.48 and still have a non-working and apparently (according to them as of January 18th) a non-repairable dishwasher.
I am recalling all the events with this company and presenting in a chronological order.
i) Our microwave was intermittently turning ON & OFF, that’s why on April 20th I called this company. I was told that they charge $80 for the visit and upon inspection and diagnosis the technician would give a repair estimate. If the repair estimate is acceptable to us the repair is done and $80 for the visit fee is waived off, however if the repair estimate is not acceptable we pay $80 only. The receptionist on the phone was very friendly and I told her that I Googled this problem and it seems it's a touch panel issue. She had a good laugh and said "don’t we all find that way?"
ii) On the morning of April 21st this technician arrived at our home and the first thing he did was to make me sign on the left side of an invoice that has a paragraph confirming that "the labor quote was issued prior to any work being performed" and told me to pay $265 + HST before he could even look at the microwave. He then called his office and confirmed that they had received the money and only then started his work.
iii) In less than 10 minutes he told that "everything else is fine, but the touchpad needs to be replaced". When I brought to his attention that the microwave that was at least working before him touching it, and now completely stopped so what's the purpose of paying close to $300? His cold response was "that's not refundable".
iv) He said the touchpad should cost $250-300, but on this receipt you will see $483.20 + Tax. I even pointed this to him and his reply was "it costs $250-300, but on receipt I have to mention this amount". He then asked me to sign again on the bottom right of this receipt literally pushing me to sign. Later on I realized that it contained a paragraph saying that "I hereby accept the above performed service and charges as being satisfactory". The overall experience was so disgusting that I wanted this man to leave my place and just signed wherever he wanted me to sign.
If you look at the reviews of this company on Yelp or TrustPilot you will see 100s of reviews of experiences similar like mine with people calling this company a scam and liars. I wish I should have read these reviews before contacting this company. At least this review should help others.
