I was contacted by Teresa Townsend whom found our interior design company on houzz. She said she was in need of an inteior designer to help them move into their new home in Yorba Linda, California.
She communicated exclusively by email. Her communication was poor, as if she was foriegn. Teresa said she was deaf and went to school in Florida. She sent pictures of herself with her two boys and pictures of the house they were moving into.
She repeatedly asked for my number, address and who to address the check to, even though I already provided that information. She signed our agreement and said a check was going to be sent.
We never received a deposit. But oddly, on the same day we were to meet the movers, we received a check from someone unknown and when we followed up with that check, we found out it was a scam too. I'm not sure if they are related.
