Tennessee Wholesale Nursery LLC Reviews

I ordered 60 bare root plants. They came "dormant" in late fall. None of them were alive in the spring in spite of us doing what they required. When I told them they said we had to notify them within 24 hours if they were dead for them to guarantee them.

How could we do that when we needed to wait 6 months to find out if they were dead or not. They cost us over $250. An absolute rip off.

I have a degree in landscape horticulture and have been gardening for over 50 years. Somehow, I found this "nursery" online and decided to try them. Their prices are steep for what they actually provide but I’ve planted many bare root plants successfully in the past and decided I would try them out. I spent over $50 and even the Black willow tree died.

You usually can almost throw a willow tree stick into a wet piece of ground and it will root! I tried contacting them and their customer service department immediately went into a snotty attitude. Lifetime guarantee on their plants means you need to ship the dead ones back to them. ABSURD "fine print” requirement meant to discourage customers!

This added almost another 10 bucks to what I had already invested but I wanted to see if I could still get a credit for fresher rootstock. It has now been over a month since I shipped the dead plants back and still ignoring my emails. The are on FB but it appears they have comments blocked. This company absolutely SUCKS‼️

I grew up on the C.F. Swingle nursery, Gramps was the foremost plant propagation expert in the world and between the 30's and 60'sin charge of many projects for the USDA including getting the plants to grow for the real scientist portrayed in the Disney movie Medicine Man with Sean Connery and was able to get almost anything to grow.

These people at TN Wholesale Nursery are sending dead sticks in place of bare root plants! Of the more than 15 things I ordered from them only 20% were viable. When I called them they dicked me around for two weeks and refused to refund my money or fulfill my order!

I ordered 100 ostrich feather fern rhizomes from them on March 1 to be delivered as soon as possible. Two weeks later , when there was no email from them informing me about the shipment details, I wrote to them. Finally, after several emails back and forth, they were going to ship them.

I received the package yesterday, on March 25. Unfortunately, even though on the outside of the plastic garbage bag there were words written that it was ostrich feather ferns, inside were half rotten christmas ferns. Easy to tell the difference between those two, epecially since I already have hundreds of the Christmas ferns growing. I wrote to them immediately.

They answered today. After 4-5 emaill exchanges, their final word was that they have the warranty to substitute items. I told them I will dispute the charge and what do they want with those sorry looking plants they have sent. They stopped answering. I placed a dispute with my Citibank card; I refuse to pay for plants I did not want to buy. And I will not pay to ship them back. I am so dissapointed.

I cannot recommend this company. On April 5, 2017, I purchased 225 bareroot plants, comprised of 100 ferns, 100 bleeding hearts and 25 blueberries. Their website has a page dedicated to photos and descriptions of how the items will be packaged for safe shipping and how they will look upon arrival. I felt confident that I would receive something that resembled their photos.

On Apr 14, the bare root shrubs arrived unprotected and unbraced, in an oversized thin cardboard box. The blueberry twigs were bundled and the roots were wrapped with paper that sharp roots had poked holes in and the plant roots, such as they were, were virtually dry. Honestly, it looked like they had picked them and packaged them many weeks before they sent them to us. This was not as advertised.

The so-called barefoot ferns and bleeding hearts were shipped loose and dry in gallon ziplock bags.

Their website showed large, healthy bareroot plugs that were like 7” in length, but what we actually received was more like 1” and packed dry. Each package of 100 plants only filled half the one gallon ziplock bag.

Since I had never ordered bare root plants before I didn’t know what they should look like so I went ahead and hoped for the best and planted them. Well, despite our best efforts, NOT A SINGLE PLANT SURVIVED.

After I placed this order I went online and found dozens of terrible reviews for this company. They have clearly been getting away with this for years. They’re a scam. They ship dead plants then when customers complain and try to get their money back, they’re hostile and confrontational. I’d encourage folks to go check out the 102 complaints at the BBB site. Don’t order from this company.

Ordered Ponderosa Pines off their website. Per the website, they were in stock. Had to wait several months for colder weather. When they arrived, they were not Ponderosa Pines. They were smaller than ordered. We ordered 12 and only received 10. (Photos to prove numbers, height and pine needles). We have no idea what type of pine they are, but they were not of the Ponderosa variety. There was no information included in shipment and no email explanation. Contacted their customer service via email and after numerous attempts to get through, we were told to, "Read the fine print.

We can substitute for another tree if you do not specifically state, 'No substitutions'." After further discussion, we were told we could NOT get our money back, but we could ship the trees back and reorder via an 'in-store credit'. We were told the Ponderosa Pines were in stock. So, we paid to ship the wrong trees back and re-ordered again, this time via phone order (we have proof of the call). We specifically told them, "ONLY PONDEROSA PINES!" Well, they arrived and again, Not a single Ponderosa Pine in the group!

These were at kleast the correct count and correct height, but they were NOT Ponderosa Pines. So, now what? Pay to ship these back again and still not get our money back? We've spent over $100 just in shipping costs! These people are either completely incompetent as nursery staff or they are intentionally and purposefully ripping people off by falsely advertising, taking money transactions (wire fraud), sending the wrong plants out and not giving people their money back on promised orders.

I cannot recommend this company. I ordered plants that were to ship at the end of October and were to be 4-5' tall upon arrival. Their website has a page dedicated to photos and descriptions of how the items will be packaged for safe shipping and how they will look upon arrival. I felt confident that I would receive a semblance of what I ordered and at the promised arrival time. About 1 month after my order was placed (received an email reciept of charges - but no order confirmation) and a few weeks after the end of October had come and gone, I left voicemails for the company. No reply. I finally emailed the company inquiring about my order (November 21) and said I had not received a call back, nor received my order, weeks after the promised date. I received an email reply with no acknowledgement of my concerns, stating the order should ship soon. I received the order November 27 (about a month after promised delivery date).

The bare root shrubs arrived unprotected and unbraced, in an oversized thin cardboard box. They were bone dry and had one dry, thin piece of paper wrapped around the bases (they were bunched together) with no moisture, no protection and perhaps a tablespoon of dry, loose soil granules. This was not as advertised. One or 2 arrived DOA with zero roots. The others were dry twigs with a few wispy, young, fragile, stringy roots. Their website depicted lush, moist, soil encased plants with an abu, dance of healthy roots. I was also promised 4-5' tall plants. I measured and the tallest plant clocked in at 43" with the shortest in the 30" range. I contacted the company via email and expressed my dismay, including photos of the items and asked for a full refund. I received a short, terse reply that a refund was not going to happen and I could ship them back for store credit. I paid $96 for 5 bare, probably dead twigs that were not as advertised and arrived a month after promised date - why would I spend 16 bucks to return their twigs and get store credit to shop with them again?? I replied that the only solution was to give me a full refund. I received a quick response that my only 2 options were to return for store credit or have them send new ones. Again, I do not want to do business with this company nor give them money. Not once did I receive an apology. or acknowledgement of their misrepresentation, just short, unprofessional emails. Very bad experience.

When I first placed my order I read a policy I found online that said the trees were guaranteed for 1 year and would be replaced if they died. I ordered $400 worth of trees feeling there was little risk because they would be replaced if they did not make it. Mysteriously soon after I placed the order I could no longer find this policy or any return/refund policy.

The trees arrived without any packing and the tops of some were bent over. They arrived with a sheet of paper indicating they were dormant and would not look nice but to plant them and soon they would be beautiful. So I did as it said thinkiing if they did not make it I could get them replaced.

Soon after I realized they were not dormant at all but dead and had no chance of recovery or growing. After being after I paid someone more money to help me plant them.

I contacted the company and this is the response I got, no apology concern etc just these exact words in an email:

"Check our warranty page out on our website . We have a 24 hour warranty that it arrives alive and that your get intouch with us within the 24 hour to let us know the problem. There is nothing that we can do at this point."

I searched for the warrantee and could find nothing on the website. I searched at a little later date and again.. mysteriously... there was the 24 hour warrantee. Did I mention I spent $400!!!

These trees were so bad I was embarrased they were in my yard. I should have sent them back when they arrived but I thought I would give them a chance since they were supposedly dormant and had a warrrantee.

NEVER again will I order any plants online. My husband finally mowed them down with the small lawn tractor without any trouble at all. These were supposed to be 4-5 ft trees and they were easily mowed down with a lawn tractor!!

Save your money. The website has several supposed good customer reviews. However, there is no place on the website to review your order. I highly highly doubt these are legit customer reviews. I see there is another customer on here that also lost $400. They give this big discount for ordering bulk orders which I am sure gets people to spend more money. I should have took a clue when I could order 100 trees for less than 50 trees.

I hope others read this review and put this HORRIBLE company out of business. I wish I knew if there was something I could do to get some of my money back or make them responsible.
