Mr. Tilton came out 8/21/15 to inspect my air conditioning unit. I was ill when he came for the inspection so I was in my bed resting. My downstairs master bedroom was not cooling properly. He informed me that the ducts were cramped and needed to be replaced. He told me that this was due to normal wear and tear and that he knew it would be covered by the warranty company. He also stated that he would make sure to word the report properly so that there would not be an issue with coverage. He stated that he would have installed the ducts differently if he did them and that builders try to cut costs by routing the ducts using the shortest route and that is what he think happened and may have caused the cramping.
My son was present during this conversation. I also asked him to call the warranty company in front of me before he left my home because I felt like he was shady but he refused and told me that he had to get to another job and he would call in his car. He collected $65 and told me that he would collect the remaining $35 when the job was completed. I asked him if the work wasn't covered what would it cost and he stated it would be no more than $350. He then reassured me that most likely the warranty company would cover the duct work.
Mr. Tilton left and I received a call from the insurance company shortly after informing me that my claim was denied because he reported that the damage was NOT normal wear&tear and could've been done by an human or animal. Also, that this was a preexisting issue caused by improper installation.
I contacted Mr.Tilton immediately and informed him of what the warranty company said.I had him on speaker phone and my husband was present.I asked him to please confirm the details of our conversation, which he did. He reconfirmed that what he told me was exactly what he wrote in his report and that the warranty company must be mistaken. He told me that he did find that the cramping was normal wear and tear and that it was NOT caused by a human or animal. He told me that he would call and fix the issue.
I waited to hear from him that evening and the next day. The insurance company left him a message as well, which he did not return because he told me he was working late on another job.
I finally got him to answer my calls on 8/25 and at that time the phone signal was very poor so he kept cutting off. I called his office and spoke with his secretary and informed her that I have spoken with my warranty company and due to the many issues they were going to send someone else out and that my complaint was going to be forwarded to the appropriate dept. I also stated that this was not good customer service and I did not understand why he gave conflicting reports.
His secretary put me on hold and Mr.Tilton got on the phone yelling and screaming at me!! He stated that I was a liar and that he would not lie for me and that I was stupid and had no business calling the warranty company. I asked him several times to calm down and stop yelling at me. He continued to yell and verbally abuse me and then he hung up the phone. He screamed that he was a christian while on the phone but his behavior was scary. My husband called Mr. Tilton and he then yelled at him that stated that my husband was getting under his skin and that we were both liars. He then hung up on my husband.
Mr.Tilton send me text messages shortly after apologizing for his unprofessional behavior and claimed that he never said any of the things he told me when in fact my son & husband witnessed him saying them. He also told the warranty company that he would charge $550 to fix the ducts when he told me no more than $350.
This has been the WORST experience I have ever had with a repair company! He is a scam artist and when he was caught lying he became irate and aggressive. He is dangerous & I would not trust someone like that in my home again. If he responded like that over the phone I am afraid what he would do in person.
