SCAM ALERT

Telplex called out of the blue promising to lower my rate by an incredible amount. When I said i would need to verify who they were before we proceeded they REFUSED to give me a call back number. I asked SEVERAL times. When pressed the woman became rude and literally told me " FINE, KEEP your high phone rates and hung up on me!. Beware.

Telplex is NOT part of any 'government deregulation'

We too got cold-called by Telplex. The rep stated that due to a recent North Carolina vote & government deregulation, our ATT phone service was being taken over by Telplex. It was presented not as an option, but as an inevitable occurrence. We would soon be receiving lower per line charges, as well as lower long distance rates. These rates were available to small businesses with fewer than 12 lines and with accounts in good standing. We don't currently pay any long distance charges with ATT. I passed the call over to my manager who tried to get a callback number from the rep. After a little more back 'n forth about the savings we would soon enjoy, he muttered something like 'well if you don't want to save money' and hung up on us. I then called our ATT rep who verified that yes, Telplex is a third party vendor with ATT, but no there is no deregulation whereby Telplex is granted license to take over our service. BEWARE of Telplex.

Very Wary

They really don't even deserve a one star review. They called here yesterday telling me the same thing as I've read in the other reviews. He said they were working with AT&T to lower our phone rates, because so many people (small businesses) had dropped AT&T...even encouraged us to get a different provider for our Internet, but to use them for our phone services. Now, tell me, what company who offers Internet would encourage you to use a different provider? They would try to work with you to get your bill down or satisfy the needs you have to provide you with what you want...just to keep you as a customer. To be honest, I didn't know at first they were scammers, because I wasn't paying that much attention to what he was saying. As I read the above reviews, everything they were saying is exactly what was said to me on the phone, but with one exception... the 'manager' gave me his name and a number to call if I changed my mind. I better not find extra charges on our bill next month!!! I will be checking!

Scammers

Telplex calls my business phone EVERY SINGLE DAY, some times up to 3 times a day. Their number shows up on caller ID as: Invalid Number 987-321-4560. Notice they use every number on the key pad (sketchy). I usually blow my air horn into the phone if I decide to answer. Today I decided to listen to their spiel and ask them questions. Of course I received a bunch of double talk and a so-called 'Manager' got on the line trying to be much more aggressive than the first caller. He sounded very aggravated at my questions but continued to try to convince me to go along. I played along for a while, making sure to never use the word 'Yes' at any time. In the end, he brought a 'verification person' on the line for me to give them my reassuring YES, which I didn't. He told me he had to call me back because it looked as though I had already been contacted by another 3rd party provider. I'm not certain how this will turn out but I did call their toll free number in California and requested my number be removed from their INTERNAL CALL LIST. A guy named Tony told me he would comply. So, basically I had about the same experience as everyone else. I hope this doesn't turn into a phone bill nightmare. I guess we'll see. Here is a site to report them: https://appsssl.cpuc.ca.gov/cpucapplication/

Slammers

We receive repeated calls from this company-Telplex. This time there was no number-just Private Caller so I answered. Same spiel trying to trick me into agreeing to have my phone service slammed. Reviews on this company are awful. Do not buy their B. S.

they've gotten smarter

telplex just called me - same as all others - claiming att had hired them to help reeduce bills of loyal customers so they don't go to other providers, she gave me the telplex website, her name and an 'id number' pretty convincing, but i know att, they don't use other companies, but the website sure uses the att logo as well as a few other big names. she kept telling me they'd lower my long distance, i don't pay for long distance, they'd give me more local minutes, i don't pay for minutes, (i have a flat rate all distance plan) they'd give me 'free' call waiting blah blah, it's all already part of my plan.....

well ok, if you're happy paying your higher rate (59$) then i'll just wait 30 days and try again.

(she promises 47 or thereabouts)

the number on caller id showed 346-330-4342 which is houston tx

They call asking who's in charge of the at & t account and that they have partnered with them to give me a better rate. This is the 2nd time in a month they've called. They keep asking the number of lines we have and the rate change will be to our benefit. The number they use is 987-321-4560. I've called at & t and they don't know anything about this partnership.

These people are very slick

Received a call asking about rate changes for AT&T. I told him I had the straightened out with AT&T. He said oh really, your contract didn't renew and that's why I'm calling. I asked him not once but several times are you employed with AT&T? He said yes. He said AT&T is now using Telplex as their carrier and this would not affect my AT&T service. After a few minutes he said I would need to go through verification and to answer yes to all questions. The very first thing they said was, did I know Telplex was in competition with AT&T? That's when I hung up. Called AT&T immediately to find out this was a third party carrier. I can't say they are a scam, but they are a third party to AT&T according to customer service at AT&T. But they don't mind telling a bold face lie to hook you.

Same SCAM for over a year

The only additional information I can give is that they have been randomly calling me for over a year. "Due to deregulation changes made in 2016" became "made in 2017". I kept asking why I was getting this wonderful discount and why AT&T wasn't just adjusting my bill, and they kept repeating themselves that they were contracted with AT&T. I do not know if they are or are not. But I don't care. Hang up on these persistent time wasters.

Telplex keeps calling and try to change my phone service. They claim some deregulations is allowing them to use at&t equipment to compete with them for the same services and offering lower rates. They actually try to trick you into changing.

Definite scam

Tried to tell me that due to so many complaints about high bills "Century Link hired Telplex to take over their long distance services". When I started to get suspicious and started asking questions she said she never told me she worked for Century Link and even said "We are competitors"! She kept trying to get me to agree with things, asking "You understand, right?" and every time I said "No, I don't understand" I finally said, "this sounds like a scam" and hung up.

Please hang up if someone calls claiming to be from your telephone company but is offering new rates from this company. AT&T does not use them for long distance. They are very convincing though. If you are unsure at all, tell them you will find the AT&T number online and then call. If they try to keep you on the phone, and do not encourage you to call the AT&T number, it is a scam. Never allow them to connect you with a third party to answer some questions. I hope this helps someone else, they are getting better at this scam because they will actually lie to you and tell you they work for AT&T. Don't get caught by them.

SCAM

They call my company at least once a week. When I tell them I need to verify their information with ATT, they get belligerent and eventually hang up on me. I have asked them to take me off their list only to be told that ATT gives them my name over and over. ATT tells me that they have no affiliation with them.

Total scam

Same as all the above. They "work for Century Link". They promised to reduce my bill. When I asked to talk to Century LInk first they got real upset telling me that they "are Century Link". I hung up. They called back 10-15 times and my staff kept telling them to give us a number to call back - they said they would wait. We called Century Link. They said this was not their company and this is a Fraud.

Beware-

This company called and said they work with AT&T and can lower my phone bill. I had to ask them three times to tell me the name of company he worked for before he would tell me. I asked them for a call back number so I could check the information he was telling me and he said " we don't have a call back number, we have many people to call today and don't have time to take calls". So AT&T did not hire this company like he was telling me. They asked me to look at my bill and tell them what it said and I told them I don't really want to give you information from my bill. If AT&T hired them they would have sent you my information. They try to talk so fast and don't want you asking questions and become rude when you do ask questions.

Beware, they are not truthful at all.

This company called us at our business and said they actually worked for AT&T. That was the first lie they told. Then they said AT&T was changing its policy and would no longer bill my long distance on the same bill at my monthly regularphone bill - another lie.

Sounded like a scam so I said don't change anything, I'll call you back. I never called them back, but they changed my long distance from AT&T to thier company anyway! Without my request or permission. TelPlex Communications is a fraud, don't fall for any scam about AT&T changing thier billing pactices regarding long distance.

Not on the up and up

Having read the reviews above I now feel glad I didn't sign up with them. They used ph# 702-405-8626 and would call multiple times a day asking for the manager by name who hasn't worked here for 15 years! I used to tell them she was not at this office # and I'd hang up. Today they caught me off guard by asking who was responsible for our phone line with Centurylong. When I told them I was they went into their sales pitch about how they could save me $60 per month by allowing them to be my "discount billing carrier" and that I would still keep all my same services with Centurylink. After asking them a series of questions one of them being would it affect my contract with Centurylink since that didn't expire till next year would there by a penalty for breaking the contract. The sales guy Bryan told me no. As I continued with further questions they must have gotten fed up with too many questions and the last lady hung up on me. That gave me a chance to call Centurylink who did not know them and further validated that yes I would have a $204 bill for breaking the contract with Centurylink. That's when I tried calling them back on the ph# listed I retrieved from ID calling, but it was a voice mail but no message could be left. That's when I realized they weren't on the up and up if the ph# they called from was no good. I googled them and found this page so I called them at the toll-free number listed on this website and I got through to a lady and told her I did not want to switch to their billing. She verified that since I'd asked so many questions they did not put me on their list to switch. If I ever get called by them again I will be much more firm with them. "If it sounds too good to be true" or if it doesn't pass the smell test you best hang up instead of wasting about 1/2 hr on the phone with them and possibly getting scammed.

SCAM ALERT

Telplex called and said they work with AT&T and can lower my phone bill to $43.00 monthly. I was very cautious since I had placed a call with AT&T the day before regarding our high bill. I asked them to e-mail just what they had promised & someone else got on phone. I then hopped on internet looked them up & asked why it showed them as scammers. He proceeded to ask me…I thought you said you didn’t have internet? Me: “Different provider” Him: Click
