Teleport Communications America in La Jolla, CA

I keep getting daily calls & texts (from a land line??? How can a land line text me??) from "County of San Diego", but upon looking up 858 795 9050 online it says landline belonging to Teleport Communications America in La Jolla, and when I call back I get recorded message saying it's a "non working number". It also says that they have had over 750 phone numbers (http://www.spansms.com/858-795-9xxx & http://www.cellconnectonline.com/858-795-9xxx).

This is a copy of an automatic voice to text message left on my voice mail. My smartphone's caller ID displayed 951-587-8956 from Temecula. "My name is Casey calling from Rod net scheduling department in regards of an order that we received the scheduling for an exam. Please give us a call back as soon as possible on the telephone number 310-309-6712. Again it's 310-309-6712. Thank you." That last number is for Santa Monica! This person, a guy, "Casey," called both my Wife's phone and my phone and left messages, with bad English.

Bad English should always be a tip off. Had two "bad English" fraud attempts from Uganda previously. Areas of wrong grammar sticks out like a sore thumb. My wife doesn't have any open results of exams for some "Rod net scheduling department" to call us both so we can schedule another exam. Besides, from our Primary Care Physician to referred specialists, a nurse or a receptionist "from Dr. XXXXX's office" calls us with an already scheduled first available appointment and a callback number "for any questions." This phishing scam voicemail is NOT how scheduling in our medical network is done.

Calls had been received prior from Federal Grants, but 4 (four) occurred on April 11, 2017. Each time callers identified themselves as Federal Grants with one stating they were part of the US Health and Human Services.

1. 10:49 AM, MST Female caller asked if I was by name and then stated I was eligible for a payment of $7000 tax free with no outside charges. Asked what specific federal agency the Federal Grants program was in and she stated Health and Human Services. Asked her to place my name on the do not call list and she hung up.

2. 1:35 PM, MST Second call received following same format of asking for myself by name and then stating my eligibility to receive a free $7000 federal grant. I asked whom he represented and the reply was the Federal Grants Program. Requested what other charges would be levied and he stated none. Asked what agency the federal grants program was part of and he hesitated, then stated US Government. Requested my number be placed on the internal do not call list and he hung up.

3. 4:21 PM, MST Third call received with same opening format as indicated above. I asked if this was a telemarketing call and he stated no. Requested his name and reply was Calvin Scout. Asked for company name calling from and his reply was Federal Grants program. Then asked if his company kept a list of phone numbers you are not supposed to call? He became unsettled at this point thus I requested he add my telephone number to the do not call list and asked he do that while I was on line. At this point he became somewhat abusive stating it was none of my business and ranted in a language I believe was Hindi, spoken in India. Told him he was calling a cell phone which was a federal law violation and he hung up on me.

4. 4:56 PM, MST Received call again, heard loud voices, but then hung up.

Scams

I've been getting phone calls from random area codes/numbers. I do not answer. I do reverse phone to look up who is calling and it says the number is from Teleport Communications. Apparently, this is just scammers using different scare tactics to extort money from unsuspecting Americans.

They contacted my personal phone, and claimed that I have 4 charges filed against me from the IRS, and I would be taken into custody by my local law enforcement within 24 hours of their notice, if I didn't listen to their dialogue and attempt to fix the financial issue.

I tried to get as much information as I could before she read off her dialogue. She said once she began her dialogue, the line was recorded and we had better not disconnected, otherwise I would forfeit this grace period and legal matters would pressed against me immediately.

As I was trying to get as much information as I could, in order to verify the validity of this supposed claim, our call was disconnected, through no fault of my own.
