Ted Tine Motorsports, Inc. Reviews

  • Nov 19, 2016

I purchased an antique 1941 Indian motorcycle from Mr. Ted Tine in the early 1990's for $14,000; when his business was called Essex Motorsports. He advertised the motorcycle as being restored; both engine and cosmetic. In addition, he claimed the bike had matching frame and engine numbers; which increases the value. Soon after getting the bike, it became apparent that it was a lemon. It constantly broke down and the paint literally peeled off the motorcycle. Some of the "chrome" pieces on the rear shocks actual crumbled; like tin foil. I told Mr. Tine about the issues, but he stressed that it was an "As-Is" purchase.

After a short while, I had to bring the bike into the shop because it would not shift properly. I brought the bike to an Indian expert in Long island NY; where it was discovered that the motor had never been rebuilt. In fact, most of the internal parts were seemingly from 1941; or whenever the original motor was built. I also came to find out that the engine numbers had been recreated to match the frame. In fact, the numbers did not match at all. Many of the parts were not original; and worst of all, the bike never ran properly. After spending thousands to make repairs I decided to sell it; taking a hefty loss.

Mr. Tine is the epitome of a dishonest car salesman. He definitely took advantage of me and had absolutely no remorse for his actions. Now that he has changed his name to Ted Tine Motorsports, I suppose he can dodge more questions about his character, but it will certainly catch up to him one day. There is no place for people like this in business.
