Blower motor on my home heating sys started makeing sounds like it was going out and sure enough it guit blowing a couple of hours later. I then called (tdk comfort systems inc) a heating and air conditioning co. I told the repair tech when he arived that I was pretty sure from the sound that it was the blower motor. after less than a half hour the tech confirmed that it was the blower motor. He then informed me that it would cost 550 dollars but if I wanted he could go five miles down the road and pick up the motor and install it yet today (approx 3pm) but it would cost an extra $100.00 making it a $650 dollar repair or I could wait until tomorrow and only pay the $550.00 first quoted. We opted to save the $100.00 and have it installed the following day. when he arrived the following day with the motor I asked him what was the cost of the motor and he stated that the motor cost $550.00 dollars. That didn't sound right but I said nothing at the time. While the tech was installing the motor I read the name and numbers off the motor box and looked it up online and found out that the list price for the exact motor was $177.00. iI took the tech less than 30 min to install and check out the new moter. I am sure he pays less than my list price for that motor. So with a final bill of $627.00 that means that the total 1hr time he spent at my house he charged just barley under $ 500.00 an hr in labor. So, yes they are going to say there are service call sharges and diagnostic fees (to tell me what I first told him that it was the motor, but any way you try to explain it I got screwed.
