TCI Long Distance Reviews
Heads up consumers nationwide — this entity/all its subsidiaries is/are being engaged in blatant fraud, including but not limited to unauthorized account opening, unauthorized billing, unauthorized recurring charges, refusal to adjust/close account, identity theft, negligence, false advertising, intentional misrepresentation, and collusion.
We’ve reported this company and its accomplices to, among others, the FTC and the California DCA to investigate our claims, and hopefully the state(s)/federal governments would file class-action lawsuit(s) against/prosecute them. If you’re a victim as well, make sure you promptly file a complaint/report it to your local/state/federal consumer agencies.
Again — DO NOT sign up/use their services at all, and warn other consumers/the public.
Previously I have only had one problem with this company when they lost a payment which they had extracked from my checking account and absolutely refused to search for it. All they would say is send us proof so I did twice in the form of bank statement clearly showing it had been paid. It was less than $20 so I ignored it solely because I was paying around $.04 per minute for long distance.
I June I realized that they had raiesed my rate to $ .175 per minute in January. No explanation was given nor did they contact me at anytime. I sent two emails using their contact form on their website over a period of two weeks. Finally I called and explained what my problem was. The agent was rude and argry that I had disturbed him and demanded to know which phone numbers had been raised to that rate in my last invoice. I explained all of the calls had changed and that I was not just calling about the June invoice but all invoices back to January and that I wanted a credit for the error.
His reaction was simple --- he hung up immediately after shouting he would look into it.
On July 10th I changed carriers, however today I received my July bill from TCI with the same over charge for calls befor July 10th and no credits.
Obviously when I had the first lost payment problem, I should have taken the hint!
