Consumer beware! TCF IS A NON-Customer friendly bank. They rape their customer with fees. They provide -3 star customer service from the bank level all the way up the ladder. I lost my debit card there were 2 transaction that I did not do. I reported this to them and they took 9 days to do absolutely nothing . Meantime my account was charge over 500.00 in fees do to these transactions . Beware they do not care about their customers. Please check all their review before visiting a branch or deciding to open an account. Chase is a better choice or a local credit union.
A client paid me to perform immediate services for him. He wrote me a check for $900.00 from his TCF Bank account. I told him I would have to cash his check in order to start the work right away.
I brought the $900.00 check to TCF Bank (where he has his account) and they asked if I was a customer of TCF Bank. When i said no, they asked if I wanted to open an account. I said no thanks. They then told me that they would have to charge me a $27.00 fee to cash the check! That was 3% of the check amount. I asked the manager to waive the unbelievable fee, and she said no. I left with the check and told my client I could not perform the work until his check cleared my bank. He was furious with TCF Bank for charging such a high amount, and vowed to close his TCF Bank account.
I have heard of $7.00 or $10.00 fees to cash a non-customer check. But 3% of the check is outrageous. I would recommend closing your TCF Bank account, as they seem to want to rip-off the public by charging ridiculous fees for someone to cash a check drawn upon their bank. Stay clear of TCF Bank!
I am in St Paul, MN. Got the automated call from TCF stating there was suspicios activity on my account. Checked the acount and saw 5 unauthorized charges, 4 from Iowa and one from Apple Valley, MN. I was only reimbursed for the 4 charges originating in Iowa. Of course, the biggest charge is the one TCF is disputing even though I had used my card in St. Paul right around the time the charge was initiated. How can I prove I was in a different city to get my money back?
