This company charged me $950 for a tax service they didn't supply. I was informed the resolution of some tax returns for 2 years by this CPA. I entered into an agreement for resolution with this CPA which never occurred. I continued to supply them the needed info and reached out to them for one month via phone calls and emails with no resolution to my tax returns for the IRS. I then reached out to another CPA because of frustration and for the same situation and everything was completed in 2 days versus waiting a month by this organization with no progress or resolution. Below is a statement by this CPA which is contradicting: I was not hired to prepare or file amended tax returns for you with the Internal Revenue Service. Nor was I hired to enter into an agreement with the IRS on your behalf to settle the tax debt. They also stated below: You indicated that the best thing to do is to request from the IRS a copy of the CP2000 notice.
In order to file an amended return you need to know what the IRS changes were. We discussed that in lieu of this, it would be a good idea to prepare a dummy tax return with all of the information available and see if the IRS number is correct. If the numbers bear that the IRS is correct, then no amended tax return would be necessary and you would have several options in settling your tax debt. My response: Was I to assume in this instance, another CPA should prepare this dummy tax return with all this information you gathered to accomplish this instead of yourself being a CPA? How else would you be able to verify this information without determining an accurate return or dummy return to supply verbal recommendations. The agreement states you were not hired to prepare a tax return yet you informed me verbally and in writing you would have to do this for accurate verification.
Desired Settlement: Refund
Desired Outcome Description: A refund of $950 for services that were misleading and stretched on for 1 month requesting the cancellation two times and being denied. Taking this same information to another CPA the service was completed in 2 days with payment of $750
