My biggest frustration is that I paid $70 for a membership so that I could promote my deck in the online Facebook group. I was told I could not post in the group without a membership, so I paid. I've also paid for a private reading from Markus Katz who runs the group and bought his book.
It all started when I found out Doreen Virtue became a fundamentalist Christian. She has sold dozens and dozens of angel oracle decks over the years. Her stuff never resonated with me personally, but I had seen her products everywhere. Every bookstore section has at least one. So she posted on sunday that all cards (including the ones she created) are evil and of the devil and no one should use them. I was stunned and hurt. I posted a little something about it in the Tarot Professionals group, thinking I would feel better or perhaps learn something I didn't know about it if I posted in there.
That post was deleted.
I posted again and asked why my post was deleted. An admin responded and simply said "That topic doesn't hold value to this group."
So I posted again in the Tarot Professionals group and explained that this had been said to me, but the comments were turned off and I wasn't allowed to respond. I explained that I personally felt triggered by her statements and turned to the one group I was aware of that might offer support. Although I wasn't trying to fight the admins, I wanted to clarify that I wasn't just trying to bash her.
This post was allowed to stay and people posted and commented for a good part of the day. Some people explained that the topic had been done to death and often became inflammatory. I said I understood that and that if this had been explained when I asked why, it would have saved us some time. I also asked if maybe there could be a list of banned topics, as I didn't want to commit the same faux pas in the future. The creator, Marcus, said they would review their guidelines. Then he shut off commenting and invited everyone to join a spin off discussion. I was ok with all of this.
