I am a personal injury lawyer by trade, and after signing up for what is advertised on legaltemplates.net as a free service because that is what is advertised, I realized months later it was anything but.
After unsuccessfully trying to get my money back, and after a full afternoon of fury, I decided the best thing to do was share my experience so that others may avoid it. I love sleuthing, it's what I've done as a professional for over 8 years, so fingering these culprits was a joy..
When my refund request was promptly denied, I started to do some digging, to find out what humans were behind this website and if I could just contact them directly, through my law firm. What began as a simple search quickly turned into a rabbit whole of multiple sites, all offering some professional service for free, and after searching review sites, all appear to be consistently stealing money by deceiving customers.
It turns out that Legaltemplates.net is owned and created by Taroko Software (http://tarokosoftware.com/), this software company that bills itself as a "start up" of sorts, is based conveniently in Taipei City, in Taiwan. Howard claims ownership of both Resume Genius (http://resumegenius.com) and Legaltemplates.net (http://legaltemplates.net) on his Angel.co VC profile page (https://angel.co/taroko), and his Twitter confirming ownership of Taroko Software based in Taiwan (https://twitter.com/howard_chai)
Further diggin reveals the CEO of Taroko, Resume Genius, Resume Companion and Legaltemplates.net also owns Freelancewriting.com (http://website.informer.com/email/[email protected])
Another review site (https://repdigger.com/reviews/taroko-software) lists both both Resum Companion (http://resumecompanion.com) and Resume Genius (http://resumegenius.com) as domains of this "Taroko Software" company as well.
It would seem that Taroko Software has a knack for creating "profitable web apps" as they state on their website, that thrive of pretying off consumers seeking free services. This is evidenced by the absolutely worst possible customer feedback received on various consumer review pages:
It seems Taroko Software and it's satalite of sites has made some customers so angry they've gone out of their way to create entire Facebook groups about how bad they are: https://www.facebook.com/Resume-Genius-is-a-scam-678879462155115/
Ultimately, this review started with just one site, Legaltemplates.net, but after being deceptively billed for months, led to an impromptu treasure hunt which unearthed a whole series of websites all operating along a similar business model.
From one professional to another, I HIGHLY warn ANYONE from using any website created by the theives at Taroko Software. This includes:
Resumegenius.com
Resumecompanion.com
Legaltemplates.net
Freelancewriting.com
Their services are not FREE as advetised, they're often not even the original prices they state, as I was billed for a greater sum the second month than the first, and they will not give you your money back. When I contacted customer support I was threatened that they would damage my credit rating.. not realizing they were talking to a licensed attorny.
If you have used any of their services, call your bank and demand a chargeback issued against them, the banks will always side in your favor, and they cannot damage your credit rating as they claim.
