TAP Air Portugal did not weigh my carry-on bag at the check in counter, and then decided to check the dimensions and weight at an intermediate connection point and charged 165 EUR to gate check it because it was a couple of pounds over their bogus limits. Even though my ticket includes a free checked bag, (that I did not use) and they implicitly indicated that it was fine to bring on board by not verifying weight at the checkin desk. It sure seems like a predatory tactic, particularly with the ridiculously excessive fees. On top of everything, they did not send me a receipt, which makes me wonder what is going on there. DO NOT FLY THIS SCAM AIRLINE.
I had purchased 2 tickets for my fiance and me with TAP Portugal for our destination wedding in Italy for September 2020. Understandably, due to Covid, travel was forbidden and TAP Portugal had to cancel our flights in March 2020.
Month after month we had contacted our travel agency, Hotwire/Expedia, for a refund of the canceled flights. Month after month we've been issued the same statement; that the airline would not authorize a refund for the flight they canceled.
It is now 15 months since these flights were canceled, and we have yet to receive a refund from either Hotwire/Expedia or TAP Portugal.
During a year that was supposed to be a happy moment, stressed over our lives with Covid, both Hotwire/Expedia and TAP Portugal showed lack of customer service, empathy and forgiveness for the thievery they all were involved with.
