Our small Trucking Business (OCH Trucking LLC) leased two trucks on with another relatively small Trucking Company (Knight Rider Transportation LLC). Knight Rider informed us that they used a Factoring Company to improve Cash Flow. The name of the Factoring Company is TAFS which they described as Trans Am Financial Services out of Olathe Kansas. They charge 5% of the freight bill to get you paid on the same day. Example: $1000.00 freight BOL is paid today if the signed Bill of Lading is submitted before 2:00 PM CST. If after 2:00 PM the Bill would be paid on the next business day. 5% Cost equals $50.00 per $1000.00. Knight Rider also told us there were additional benefits which include a fuel card pre-loaded by the proceeds in any amount you request. The fuel card gets you a 7 cent per gallon off the cash price at the major Truck Stops like Loves, Flying J and Pilot. You also get discounts on New Tires (20)% and Free Road side Service if you ever need it. In addition they explained there was no recourse, which means if the Broker/Shipper fails to pay the freight Bill to TAFS it would be TAFS who would become the Collector. Once they buy the Bill for a 5% cost you are finished you get paid immediately and you get the benefits.

Read the fine print. We made the Big Mistake of taking the recommendation of Knight Rider as they were obviously trying to do the right thing. When the first of several BOL's did not get paid on time we contacted Knight Rider and they said they would try and get us paid. Days turned into weeks. Some invoices did get paid and others did not. We found out there was a fee associated with each transfer to the fuel card so we elected to not use them at all. The fee was more than the savings on the cash price, so why bother. Instead of free road side service which we actually needed one time, they only pay $100.00. Instead a the tire discount I found that I could buy tires for the same price anyway. The 5% turned out to be as much at 20% and then TAFS informed Knight Rider they were putting our funds into a reserve account in case there was a claim or an upaid bill from a broker/shipper.

After Red Flags started waving we informed Knight Rider we wanted nothing to do with TAFS and did not want to use their services at all. That is when we found out we were under contract with TAFS by proxy. Knight Rider tried to cancel the contract with TAFS and were told they could not do so. Knight Rider was told they had to give 90 days written notice before the expiration of the current contract and that any cancellation of the contract was ultimately up to TAFS choice. TAFS then auto-renewed the expiring contract. Even if we chose not to factor a load the billing had to go through TAFS anyway and they took out there 5% and then confiscated the rest into the so-called reserve account.

After many thousands of dollars which were never paid we had to make a decision to sever ties with Knight Rider which in effect severed ties with TAFS. Even though we wanted to stay with Knight Rider we came to the conclusion that we were already in a hole and their was no reason to dig the whole any deeper.

It is our opinion that TAFS is a Rip-Off. I urge any and all Owner Operators, Small Companies like ours and any one else considering doing business with TAFS to Run not Walk the other way. We are not sure if there is a honest Factoring Company out there. We are sure that TAFS is NOT honest, they lie, cheat and steal. TAFS did not do one thing they were represented to do correctly. They do not answer their phones. They do not reply to e-mails. As soon as they have you hooked they become a relentless Rip Off.

I hate the fact that this company ever got my contact information! They have harassed and harassed and harrassed me for the past month. Calling over and over lying, begging and pushing me to sign a contract with them. Even after I told them I ha gone with another company, and told them to stop calling, they then sent my information to their manager andthey continued harassing me! Telling me how terrible my descision was for going with another company whom I felt confident would best fit the needs of my company. It has been a month that I have been with the company I chose and I am satisfied.

TAFS IS STILL CONTACTING ME, AFTER I have told them to LEAVE ME ALONE! I WOULD RECCOMEND THAT YOU DO NOT USE TAFS. THEIR HIGH PRESSURE TACTICS ARE VERY ALARMING. THEY KEEP YOU ON THE PHONE FOR TWO HOURS AT A TIME PUSHING YOU TO SIGN THE PAPERWORK and as soon as you do, you will regret it! I have heard so many terrible things from drivers who have used them and I am so glad that I DIDN'T! Just wanted to give everyone fair warning not to trust these people, since they actlike they care and you can trust them, but WATCH OUT! Look into some of the smaller companies whom have less red tape and are more willing and able to work with you and be flexible. TAFS IS NOT!

harassment

I know this is an old posting but hey what the heck.

We have sent them their 90 day notice of termination and now they are contacting the owner/operator everyday to re up our contract. It is to the point when he sees their phone number he does not answer it. This company is a true rip-off from the get go.

They tell you want you want and then turn it completely around to their advantage.

Rude & High Pressure Tactics

I began my process with TAFS on 5/2/2016 and advised we were looking to move factoring companies. I spoke with Stacie McAfee would begin the conversation very nicely (that's how they pull you in). I advised I needed to know the percentage for each invoice and she stated "after they run a credit check we can then provide a percentage", what's odd is no other company does this. All of companies provide you with the percentage up front or provide you with a range of the percentage. After our call Stacie sent me 5 emails within 1 hour, then followed up daily with calls and then more emails. On May 6, 2016 Stacie calls back and once I confirmed I was still checking into other companies, her entire attitude changed. She became rude, cut me off when I spoke, and told me "your a small company and only make this amount per month and therefore need to make more if you want a low percentage rate", she followed up by saying "you called me because you NEED us, we don't need you". She was very negative and rude and repeatedly told me I needed them and continued to apply pressure. I thanked her and ended the call. TAFS IS NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF BEING THERE FOR TRUCKING COMPANIES big or small, they are only in the business of making money off of us and being rude in the process. I HIGHER RECOMMEND USING A RESPECTFUL COMPANY FOR FACTORING AND NOT TAFS.

Horrible company

My husband just starting working with this TAFS. I only wished that he had done his research on this company because all of the negative reviews have proved to be very true in his case as well. I hate the day he ever contacted these dishonest, crooked company. Shame on anyone affiliate with them. My husband has been working with them for almost 2 weeks now and has not received one payment for any of the loads hauled through their crooked system. They don't answer their phones or emails anymore to try to solve this issue, which farther seems like an attempt to hide their corrupted business practices. This should be completely against the law. I don't know what we ate going to do now. If there is someone who can help us to deal with these awful people, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]. My husband just wants to get paid what is owed to him, so that we can pay our bills.

I own a very small trucking company. I contacted this company about factoring for me. I did not read the reviews before I contacted them. I spoke with a woman named Sabina Boyers. She seemed at the time to be very friendly and helpful. That was only a ploy to gain my business. She gave me this pitch about how honest they were. And how they try to help each of their clients. I told her I wanted to think about it before I signed up. She gave me this lie that they are only selecting a few companies. And that I would need to do a docusign in order to hold my spot. I fell for the lie. I signed it. And they immediately filed a UCC lien with the state against my will. Well I told them the next day that I didnt want to do it. These b******* tried to force me into staying. They then told me in order to release the lien, I would have to pay them $2500 early termination. After arguing with them, I gave them them the money. They said it would be done the same day. It took an entire week of me calling constantly to finally get it released. They are some money hungry thieves. Sabina, Nick, and Brian are the ones I had interaction with. They are all crooks. Don't do business with them. You will regret the day you did. They should be investigated because of their fraudulent behaviour.

THIS COMPANY IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am an owner operator and if it where not for JJ Heredia, I would probably be out of business right now. He talked to me when I was going to go with another factoring company and went over the fine print of both contracts....explained to me the ins and outs of both companies....the OTHER company was going to be practically running my company with fees and charge backs associated with a lack of factoring volume...NOT GOOD! JJ talked to me for various lengths of time, during his work hours and on his own time, helping me to understand that TAFS wants to help me grow MY business, not CONTROL IT! I am so happy that I stayed with TAFS, they have done everything they said they would and went above and beyond with the customer service they offer. I will be a customer for life. A mention of gratitude also for Kari Frye, she was my first contact point at TAFS and she is responsible for my original singing up with them, She has been promoted, during her time at TAFS, but still stays in touch with me even tho it is not part of her job description. She is a great person and awesome service rep!

My Experience with TAFS

In Oct. 2017 I opened my company. I signed on with TAFS (Trans Am Financial Services). I signed on with them because of the services they claimed to offer. Once I signed the contract I found out those services were NOT available to a new carrier.

I complained about it because it was those services being the reason I signed up like small business loan and the like. I was told just hang on for 30 days, that turned into 60, that turned into almost 90. Then they finally gave me a loan, $1,500.00 (their idea of helping). On this loan I agreed to pay it back at $440.00 a week for 4 weeks (give or take a few dollars) beginning a week after I got the loan (that was what I agreed to and signed). Now understand, all my invoices are factored through them, in other words everything I do , all my revenue runs through them, they charge 5% to pay me now and wait for it to come from my customers. With that said, the very next day I submitted an invoice and they held 16% of it towards the loan. I did not agree to that, and when I called they said it was their policy. Really? holding 16% of all invoices until the payback amount is reached? What about the 4 weekly payments? This is just 1 example of them misleading it's clients.

Okay, another issue. They have other fees on top of the 5%, $5.00 submission fee, or 1 hour funding fee of $25.00 (meaning you get paid with-in a hour of submitting) Only they don't tell you that for the 1st 60 days they have to verify the invoice and sometimes the customer doesn't get back to them in an hour (according to them) and so you don't get your money in an hour, but you are still charged the fee.

I used one of their dispatch services who either cut a deal or tried to cut a deal with one of my owner operators (all documented). The owner operator was so misinformed that he though I was ripping him off. The dispatcher told him basically that he could help him get his own authority and up and running under his own authority in 2 business days for $750.00. Now if you a carrier or owner operator under you own authority you know this is not possible. 1. Although is only costs about $300 to get your dot and mc numbers it costs far more than that to be granted the right to operate (Insurance, IRP, Boc-3, and other filings). 2. It takes longer than 2 business days to just get the insurance quote 3. Once you have everything sent in to FMCSA it still takes 5 days for your authority to operate is granted. This is/was a TAFS rep. directly tampering with my company.

It gets better. TAFS Director of client relations calls me (goes by JJ) on the 9th of Feb. He says he see all these emails about the tampering, breach of contract and so on that I sent in. I did not get on the phone yelling, it was all emails and no foul lang.

He says and I quote "I see you have had a lot of negatives thrown at you based on your emails and I want to help". Okay we have a discussion, and during this discussion I asked "Have I done anything wrong, or made any mistakes?" He said no in fact he could not point to one mistake I had made. 6 Hours later my girlfriend starts getting text messages that my driver was quiting, and my factoring company was "dropping me".

Feb. 12th, I called and spoke with my "relationship specialist" and asked if I was being dropped, after studdering a bit she said no. By this time my driver had abandoned the truck in the Chicago area (1 mile from where that owner operator signed his trucks on to) (apparently he couldn't get his own authority after all). Then 6 hours after talking with her (all on tape) I get a call from Adam a TAFS manager say we all agree TAFS is not a good fit for you (Really? I have only been saying that since the first week).

Okay, okay, I am getting angry again..... Funny 2 weeks before that when another factoring company called to buyout my contract JJ flat refused to now we are not a good fit..... What he meant to say really was that we are not a good fit because I won't sit back, shut up, and allow them to completely destroy my company which of course they have (it gets better).

So I have another factoring company contact them and they send him a buyout agreement that we all have to sign. In that agreement it says by signing it I give up all rights of recourse or claims against TAFS.... They are out of their minds if they think I will lose my company and the right to sue them on 1 piece of paper.

So here we are TAFS already blocked me out of the client portal even though I am still a client (is that even legal?), they won't allow me to submit invoices (because I am blocked), and because my customers have a separate contract with TAFS they can't pay me. The short version is unless I agree not to sue them all my revenue is blocked. This is the bullying that should be outlawed. I am going to lose my company, but I still have my recourse and trust me I will have my day.

So for all you carriers, brokers, and owner operators looking for factoring. Remember this experiance I had, think twice, and remember that this small carrier stood up at the cost of everything because it is wrong what they are doing. Mismanaging accounts, getting caught, and through manipulation of contracts most just sign to get away from them, most probably lose it all but couldn't say anything because they gave up the right to when they signed that agreement.

I found out too late that TAFS is a turn and burn factoring company, but this is the one I take for the team because of TAFS my company will close 02/24/18.

On or about June 8,2016 we signed a contract with TAFS Factoring, INC to start our business. A one truck owner/operator business. This company told us all we wanted to hear in order to get us to sign with them.

First that there would be no pay back if an invoice did not get paid because they had enough lawyers to go after the ones that did not pay. Wrong, we have had them take the money back after a company went bellyup.

Secondly they were only to take a 10% of the invoice to pay back what was owed. Wrong this worked for a couple of invoices and then boom they took it all out of one invoice.

I could go on numbering the events from this company but I won't so in a nut shell this is the way they work you.

They talk you through the contract so fast that you belive them and don't have time to read as you go along. They don't tell you that once you sign there is a $2500.00 fee for early termination. They tell you they can help you get a piece of equipment with nothing down and then once you do all the work of finding what you need submitting your paper work it always came to a 30-40 % down total.

It got to the point with all their lies that we started to record our conversations with them and still caught them in lies and they denie them all.

One major lie was because we have worked and factored through them that we would not have to pay the early termination fee lie lie lie. No matter what you will pay .

To the person who posted Check out Honest reviews on Google. I can't believe it took that long to figure a majority of people posting on here were not satisfied.

TAFS is a joke.

They make promises and do not follow through or answer phones or return emails.

If anyone is interested I would be happy to provide emails opened by TAFS that went ignored and ongoing busy signals (recorded) in addition to recorded phone calls with false promises.

This company is the worst by far they lack integrity and professionalism they are manipulative and extremely vicious once you make them aware that you want out of your contract they have the worst service you can imagine do not sign up with this company to handle your factoring. I was lied and treated with total disrespect. Avoid any dealings with this company you will definitely regret it I am now seeking an attorney two bring charges against the maltreatment and the mishandling of my contract they are putting my company at risk. Take my advice as well as the mini thousands of other complaints and mornings run from this company.

I'd been with Transam Financial for about four or five years. In the beginning, everything seemed fine. The customer service was there, they would actually answer the phone if you had a question., polite and courteous. About two years passed by before they changed the way things worked. They are total rip-off. They scam your monetary from you. The tell you all these good things. Then the next thing you know you're not being paid after submitting bills to to the broker and not being paid. Then you are told it's do to the fact they are paying a factoring company. So here we go. They just take over your finances and act as if you work for them. I'm just pissed. We need to get about 40 people to file a lawsuit against them to stop them. I do not see how they able to use go to broker and get your funds without sending the bills in for the to buy from you. Let's get together people and sue

Ripoff

I just started, they went to my brokers and put freezes on my bills forcing me to use them even tho I had not submitted my bills to TAFS. They forcing you to you us them against our will. Maybe we should get a bunch of together and Sue them if possible

My contract ended with TAFs on August 3rd 2019. I fulfilled my agreement. I opted out with in 90 days but not more than 120. I was so excited to move on to a new factoring company that I wanted to honestly have a celebration party that my relationship with TAFs has ended. It's been that bad!

For those of you that don't know the way it works when you move to a new factoring company is that the new factoring company does a buyout of any open invoices with the old factoring company. This moves the UCC or assignment to the new factoring company that basically says all debtors from this point on pay the new factoring company. This is the process that happens everyday when a company changes factoring companies.

I found out today (8/7/19) that just last week TAFs some how implemented a loop whole with open invoices. Jamie Heredia (the new VP of Sales) is telling me that they will NOT release my UCC and allow me to move to a new factoring company until the debtors pay the open invoices. He then lies to me and tells me I'm free to factor with any other company.

No other company will touch me if TAFs will not allow them to buy me out. The buyout allows the new factoring company to purchase all of my open receivables which means TAFs will get ALL OF THE MONEY OWED TO THEM. They are not allowing anyone to purchase my open receivables which means they are forcing me to continue to factor with them. So basically I'm stuck with TAFs forever even though my contract is up.

In my opinion Jaime Heredia and TAFs are so desperate that they are taking this measure to hold customers hostage to try and save their business. At this point I'm irate. This is not right and there needs to be a class action lawsuit against TAFs! Jaime Heredia please let me go and allow a factoring company of my choice to purchase my open invoices so that I can move on with my business. You have hurt me so much and now you want to force an unhappy customer that is out of contract to continue to factor with you.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT USE THIS FACTORING SERVICE, IF YOU PROCEED WITH THIER SERVICE THEN SIT BACK AND ENJOY THE RIDE AND DONT COMPLAIN. DONOT USE THIER EXTENDED SERVICES AS LOANS EQUIPMENT PURCHASES ECT.

I ONLY HAVE THEM FOR INVOICE FUNDING BUT HAVE BEEN OFFERED! OTHER SERVICES..IVE PUT IN MY 90 DAY NOTICE AT 120 DAYS AND DO SO EVERY MONTH ON THE FIRST WITH A COPY GOING TO THE KS BBB AS NOT TO HAVE ANY CONFUSION ON ANY BODYS PART. AFTER THE NOTICE IT ALLS OUT THE WINDOW YOUR ONE HOUR FUNDING NO LONGER A OPTION YOUR SAME DAY IS NOW MMMM?MAYBE TOMORROW.

WHEN FUNDED IT WILL BE MIDNIGHT THAT NITE.THEY HAVE HELD UP MY INVOICE PAYMENTS DUE TO CUSTOMERS GOING OVER THE ALOTED 30 ONLY TO HAVE MY CUSTOMERS SHOW THE DATE THEY CASHED AND DEPOSITED PAYMENTS. AS OF THIS VERY MOMENT IM SHOWING 53 DAYS PAST DUE ON 2 INVOICES WHEN TAFS HAD DEPOSITED LAST WEEK.

MY CUSTOMERS HAVE NOTIFED ME THEY WILL NOW LONGER LOAD THIS ONE TRUCK IF TAFS IS INVOLVED IN ANY WAY. I HAD TO MOVE 3 TRUCKS TO ANOTHER DOT # TO AVOID ANY ANY TRANSACTION WITH THIER SERVICES.DO NOT GET IN THE HOLE WITH THESE PEOPLE. READ YOUR CONTRACTS AND RECORD THE SALES CALL AS YOU WILL NEVER GET A TRANSCRIPT OF OF THAT CALL AS IT WILL UNDOUBTEDLY SHOW DESEPTION!.

IN SHORT ITS NOT IF YOUR GOING TO RUN INTO ISSUES ITS WHEN..MINE WAS DAY 5 WHEN THEY WOULD CALL 2X A DAY OR SENDING LETTERS TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS INFORMING THAT ALL PAYMENTS WERE PROPERTY OF TAFS AS NOT STATED IN THE SALES CALL. I ONLY PUT 2 OWNER OPS WITH THIS COMPANY AS A FAVOR TO THOSE GUYS TO GET 1 HOUR FUNDING AND NOT END OF WEEK. BAM MY WHOLE DAM FLEET WAS TIED UP WITH THIER SILLINESS.

THUS MOVING TRUCK TO A DORMONT DOT # THE REACTIVE COST AND INSURANCE DEPOSITS WERE AN EXTREEM ANNOYANCE TO EVERYONE CUSTOMERS INCLUDED!I WAS SELF FUNDING PRIOR TO THIS INVOLMENT. IF YOU WANT OUT START YOUR 90 LETTER AT 120 DAYS INVOLVE THE KS BBB AND GET THE RELEASE LETTER AND FWRD IT TO ALL CUSTOMERS AND THREATEN LEAGLE ACTION IF THEY DONT RELEASE YOUR UC ACOUNT AT 5 DAYS.

SCAM!!! RIP-OFF

I was referred to TAFS and signed up prematurely and during the application process it was not pointed out to me that I would be locked in to contract for a year. I did skim through the actual contract but at that time I had a big project I was working on and needed to pay my drivers quick and fast. The contract fell through and I no longer needed TAFS services.

I used TAFS for one week with one of my local contracts and decided it was not for me and I called in and cancelled by phone. I paid them in full and haven't had NO ACTIVITY with them for 150 Days.

TAFS is now contacting all of my clients and forcing them to pay them my earnings which I am currently disputing.

I have called TAFS all week long requesting to speak to a manager so that I can get out of contract and not one person has called me back to address my issue. Also, in order for me to be released from TAFS they are asking me to pay $ 2,500.00 for a release letter. SMH. This company is a disgrace and I will make sure every single one of my future and present business associates never do business with them.

If a customer does not want to use your services and has not used you in 150 days so far why not just let them out of their contract and keep it moving? Some contracts are made to be broken and since I have been asking to cancel since the first week I signed up then I don't see why there is in issue.

Make sure you not get in this Fking TAFS INC Factoring Nails My first year with my Business I was about to loose all my truck and trailer , payments behind because this TAFS hold the Invoices , them they hold your money They liar about the broker never send the checks When they never sent it invoces ,

here is their trick after 90 days the hold 25% For every invoice , I call the brokers and they send the checks next day , CHRobinson, Coyote, dont hold money. Rookie mistake 1- they got me with a year contract 2- 5% for all the invoices 3- deposit my money to a EFS sht account 4- $25 to get the money in a Hour them transfer to the Bank take 24 hours,

5- they love give you a loan , that is the reson they never sent the invoices to give you a hight interest loan to pay in 30 days . 6- one year contract with $2,500. Early termination fee 7- folks why go to Afganistan and Iraq , we have here the terrorists taking avantage of hard worker truckers Never try this people TAFS INC Liar and hold my clean money

TAFS is the worst company we ever worked with, They are very dishonest and lie a lot.

THEY GAVE ME AND EVERYBODY IN MY COMPANY A LOT A HEADACHES, they take money from your account and disappears with out your concern and when you ask for your money they give deferents excuses and at the end when you get your money back is not complete, trust me this company is a DISASTER.

When they pay you they do through the EFS (electronic found service), they put your money there and you have to wait 2 days to receive the money in your account and they charge $5 to $25 dollars for that service plus the % for the quick pay.

I completed the contract period with them and I requested the release letter to them for more than 8 times and they have not given me the letter and not respond, this is a unprofessional staff and they try to obligated you to stay there with them, that’s the reason we are going to star a legal process against them.

I do not recommended this company even to my worst enemy!

PLEASE STAY AWAY!!! RUNNNNNNN!!!! I am a new business owner that made the poor decision to factor with TAFS. This has been a huge mistake! I was told everything I wanted to hear and none of it came to fruition. My entire dealings with them has been a nightmare!!

Once I signed with them I began having issues and have yet to speak with the rep. who courted me into signing with them. It is always some excuse and reason as to why I can not and have not spoken with him. I am told someone will get back with me and no one ever does.

I send in the proper documentation to get invoices factored yet they claim to never receive them or find some minor fault on my behalf, thus prolonging them paying me. Everytime something is factored it has to be sent multiple times. They promise an overnight return if dosumentation is sent in by a certain time but they always find fault which prolongs them paying me. I have deducted that they essentially give me my money when they physically get it in hand, not advance me and they wait for it as I was told. The way they are handling things I don't even need them. I can wait extended periods to get paid without them.

I call to complain and I am falsely reassured by receptionists that that things will improve and be made right with no avail. They have the absolute worst customer service I have ever encountered. Then to add insult to injury, they will not honor my contract and let me terminate my service with them. My contract says I can pay $2500.00 for early termination, yet I am told nonchalantly that they will not let me out of my contract by any means.

They say I have to stay with them..end of story..period. I am in disbelief and disheartened by their tactics and lack of ethics. So not only am I stuck with them, I can not factor with any other company because they have a hold on my company! Yes they have it where no other company can help me factor.

All I want is out of my contract. I am willing to pay the fee. I have spoken with other individuals who were let out of there contract for only $1000.00. Every other factoring company I talk to tells me how they have heard nothing but bad things about htem and how they are the worst when it comes to factoring.
