Stay away from this company. From start to finish, they proved incompetent and uncommunicative.
We hired Swat as part of a purchase agreement when we sold our home last April. We should have known we might have problems when they failed to show up for the first scheduled appointment, but we just wanted the work done so we could close on time.
When we finally rescheduled, the installer couldn't complete the job because he couldn't make the electrical connection, although the original quote should have anticipated this. We had to then hire an electrician to finish the job--at a significant cost, of course. It was a headache, but it finally got done (we think...never saw results from final testing?) We had already moved overseas well before the job was done.
Here's where the fun begins. We received an email invoice for $100. I paid it. Then 2 months later we received another invoice. It was the same invoice #, same line items, but different $amounts. The total now was $499. This was accompanied by calls from Ashley in the (I assume) billing dept. She was lovely (*sarcasm*).
I left 2 voicemails for Ashley. No calls back. I emailed the customer service. No response. Now they call every month or so at 1am our time, leaving nasty messages. They can't explain why we have two invoices for very different amounts. Complete incompetence.
Beware of nationwide chain Swat Environmental. If you are handy around the house and need Radon mitigation chances are you can do it youself for a fraction of the cost of these jokers. They charge on average 1200 dollars for a fan and some plastic pipe. I'm talking like 140 bucks for a fan and maybe 150 for pipe, seriously. Take a look on indeed.com at jobs for these guys. Required high school diploma and some construction work, and training is available. You drill a hole in the basment floor, excavate some dirt and run the pipe outside. They are supposed to excavate 20 gallons of dirt. The guy stuck his vac in the hole and sucked out what he could and called it good. They are supposed to seal gaps and cracks. That did not happen, and the pipe going up the side of my house was different shades of white. I'm now in the process of improving on this disaster myself. A call to the local sales guy results in "I don't know why he didn't do this, I don't know why he didn't do that, I'll have to ask him". You won't get a call back though. If you want a professional to do this work for you and install a radon mitigation system if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, do a search for the many local mom and pop companies. They will do a much better job. Thank me later.
FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR FAMILY'S HEALTH AND WELL BEING, AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE.
We had a Radon Mitigation System installed in our home by SWAT. A few days after the install we started having water drainage problems. When we contacted their operations manager ADAM, he did everything he could to avoid any responsibility for the issue even though it was his technician that failed to plug in a sewer pit line. Whats worse is that ADAM knew exactly what the issue was, and failed to mention it in order to no claim liability. It wasn't until after our basement flooded (the plumber that came out verified that it was in fact SWATS fault, and notated it on our invoice) and we called ADAM back to get the damage covered, that ADAM then proceeded to tell us that he was aware of that being an issue in the past, and get this, THEN he proceeded to tell us how SWAT takes pictures of the completed job in order to cover themselves from these kind of issues (once again, only working to not be liable, not working to help the customer). You might think pictures speak the truth yes? The picture should cover SWAT. In most cases I would agree, except that the picture was taken WELL BEFORE the job was complete....
Needless to say we have now had to cover plumbing & cleaning out of pocket because SWAT refuses to take responsibility for their actions.
If you value your home, and the health and well being of the family members you have living in it, PLEASE, move to the next company. This company DOES NOT care about your well being, and will basically tell you its not their issue "they have a picture to protect themselves...."
