The policy is that if you return an order that is 500.00 or more that you will be charged a 20% restocking fee.
I am a landlord and place numerous order for tenants and am reimbursed from them. I do this as a favor since many elderley people do not want to use a credit card.
I was making a large return for sevral items that tenants wanted to send back.
I boxed the returns in two separate boxes with 2 separte invoices. I did this to avoid the 20% restocking fee.
Keep in mind that I order 1000's of dollars of supplements a year.
I received a letter from Swansons yesterday that I was being charged 196.41 restocking fee since both boxes were received on the same day and were from my account.
I phoned Swansons and explained the the items were not packaged in the same box. 2 differnt return invoices were used with different order #'s. The returns were for elderely tenants who are limited incomes.
They told me that it did not matter that even though the boxes were separate with separate order slips with differnt #'s they told me because they received both boxes on the same day they count both orders that were returned in separate boxes as the same return.
Of course if the return policy was made clear I would have sent each box on a differnt day....which does not make sense that I would ahve to since the items being returned were from differnt orders.
This really upsets me as the people expecting their refunds are low income elderly and now they are being unjustly punished financially becasue Swansons is using a loophole.
Swansons needs to make this clear as they tout their return policy as being the best in the business.
I will be reporting this the BBB and othe consumer agencies as well.
I wil discuss with tenants if they wnat to use anothe vendor as they purchase a lot of supplements.
