This is petty but it's the principle of the thing! In Florida there is no tax on packaged food. I ordered rice chips and rice pasta from them. When I bought them at Whole Foods there was no tax. I received my entire order in 2 shipments and was charged .35 on both shipments even though it was one order.
I spoke to them about this and the reduced the price a bit but still charged me the .35 twice. Since WF no longer carries these food items I will be buying them from Swanson and don't want to have this hassle again. My understanding of how taxes on food works in this state is that only prepared food is taxed.
I got nowhere talking to the agent at Swanson so I am going this route. If they could legally tax packaged food the tax would have been much higher - I believe our tax is 7%.

We asked Swanson if the ingredients in any of the products we have been purchasing from them are sourced in China and did not receive an honest answer so we will no longer purchase from them.

For that reason I will no longer buy from them and advise you to do the same. They could care less for repeat customers or any customers as they get new ones so basically avoid Swanson. They will limit items in each shipment to avoid the free shipping over a certain price so as to charge you shipping among other things they do. I clicked on a Banner Ad from Swanson for Kudzu Root for $1.74 per bottle (the normal price of theirs is $3.49 per bottle). When you click on the Banner ad, you are taken to Swanson's site showing Kudzu for $1.74 per bottle. If you purchase $50.00 worth of products there is free shipping. There is aboslutely nothing on the web page limiting the quantity of items you can purchase at $1.74.
After selecting a quantity, you are taken to the check out page (to confirm your order and apply any discount codes you may have. However, the price is then changed to $3.49 per bottle. After reaching their customer service people I was given a discount code that would allow you to but 3 bottles at 1.74.
I went back and forth with their customer service department and Swanson is refusing to honor their advertised price. Their only offer is to allow me to place numerous orders at 3 bottles per order and then charge $5.00 for shipping for each order (effectively doubling the price).
Do not let them rip you off. If you order anything from them, ensure that you are not being overcharged. Also, file complaints with the BBB and the North Dakota Attorney General's office.

Swansonvitamins.com charged my 2 Visa cards for $80 then $366 then $10 then $88.
I have not yet received a thing.
I beg Mr. Lee Swanson to either refund me or deliver my medicine.
