In 2013, I had to sue my children's mother for custody and visitation rights after she moved out of town with the children with no notice to me.

Ms Groff came highly recommended from my attorney as a GAL that we'd want to work with. And in initial meetings with her, she seemed like she would be a fair and unbalanced individual to represent the best interests of the children.

In the middle of the custody process, the mother had a mental breakdown resulting in involuntary hospitalization and left her stay at the hospital with a diagnosis of Bi-Polar Disorder along with Borderline Personality Disorder. I had to file a rule to show cause to get this information because the mother would not explain to me where she had been ; where the children had been while she was "away"; or what the likelihood that this would happen again. As we were about to enter the courtroom, the mother finally admitted to Ms Groff what had happened, and Ms Groff felt this wasn't an issue worthy of consideration in her decision.

While the children were at school, I received a call from their teacher saying that one of the children had mentioned that their mother was touching them inappropriately. I took the children to the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center where they were interviewed by a forensic psychologist. Despite all of this, Ms Groff again felt the children were better kept with their mother.

The list goes on, and I know I'm not giving the most eloquent description of these issues, but if you are considering hiring her as representation or as GAL for the case, I would suggest you seriously reconsider and find someone else.

In my opinion, she is not to be trusted to be fair and unbiased.
