I wanted to alert businesses and end users to a terrible experience I had with www. surveillance-video.com and Jeffrey Tauber.
I searched a ladder rack kit (ICCMSLRW05) used in computer rooms on the internet and found that surveillance-video had the piece advertised on their site.
Upon calling to assure that they really had stock of this product, I spoke to Jeffrey Tauber. He said he had to call back to confirm inventory. When he made the return call he said "yes we have the inventory at the NY facility and that the material would ship the next day". I placed the order on their site (as he advised) on Thursday 9/24/2015. Jeffrey had promised the order would ship on the next day via ground.
The following Tuesday (9/29/15) I checked (called Jeffrey Tauber) to get the tracking number to confirm delivery. I was surprised to hear Jeffrey say that they didn't really have stock and that the piece was supposed to ship from the manufacturer (ICC) in California. The problem is, it didn't ship. I was irritated that Jeffrey mislead me. Just as important, a shipment from California would take more time. When I inquired why the order didn't ship when ordered, Jeffrey said that the manufacturer (ICC) made a mistake and was at fault.
...In years gone by, I distributed ICC products and have a good knowledge of their company and know that they ship the same day or next, so I became suspicious, but held my tongue.
I told him that he or ICC should pay overnight freight to deliver the material as someone made a mistake at my customer's expense which would cost them days lost. He said no way! Not for so small an order. I then suggested that ICC should deliver the material overnight if they dropped the ball. He said "this is too small to bother them". Another flag went up. If this were my deal, I would have called on them to make good. When I suggested that he should set up a conference with ICC, he said "no way, I don't want to get them involved".
A few minutes later, I called to ICC myself and spoke with a sales manager to see if there were any distributors that did have stock. He told me that there were none that had this product and that Jeffrey and surveillance-video were not distributors for ICC. I also I came to realize the order didn't ship is because my (Jeffrey's) order was below ICC's $100.00 minimum order requirement.
I decided to stay with Jeffrey and to pay for overnight shipment myself as I felt compelled to get my customer taken care of. (I'd already paid ground freight upon ordering the product.)
The product did ship, but to add insult to injury, Jeffrey had the nerve to charge me the $10.00 fee for orders under $100.00. I wound up paying $108.00 extra over the cost ($205.00) on my original $97.00 order.
Jeffrey Tauber lied about having stock, about shipping the material the next day and about being a distributor. Then offered no relief for a situation he caused.
Don't put your time or business interests in jeopardy in dealing with surveillance-video and Jeffrey Tauber.
