So here is the story. I was talking with a John Patricina via phone and text who says he is the owner of Superior General Contracting. John sent a man named Jay to my home to discuss the cement work I wanted done. After a month of excuses ranging from weather, dead relatives and permit issues I went to the city to see the permit that was pulled for my house. Luckily he pulled a permit. I requested to get a copy of the permit as well as a copy of the permit application. On the application and permit you can find the contractors name, home address and their license #. So the name on the application is a "John Houston Floyd" I expected to see a "John Patricina"... so I went to the Michigan Dept of Corrections website OTIS. I did a lookup on John Houston Floyd.
Now I was in shock. Rmember I said Jay came to my house... that man at my house wasnt Jay. His real name is John Houston Floyd. His picture was on the OTIS website. Now I'm a little freaked out.
Now I went to the Michigan Dept of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. I did a check and the contractors license on the permit does match John Houstons Floyds name. John just recently got a new licesnse so he can start doing construction again. I now confront "John Patricia" on the phone and tell him my discovery and concerns. He blows it off and says its no big deal. I told him I think you arent John Patricina but are really John Houston Floyd. He insist he is not. John Patricina says he owns Superior General Contracting and that John Floyd is his cousin. With that information I went to the Better Busines Bureu and did a search for Superior General Contracting. Guess what John Houston Floyd owns it. There is no Patricina listed there. Lets make this even clearer. I was given a website name of leadersincontracting.com. For people not tech savy there is something called a WHOIS on the internet you can do to check who owns a domain. So I looked up leadersincontracting.com. Guess what, it too is owned by John Houston Floyd. It even has contact information in it. The phone number listed on the WHOIS information is the number of the guy claiming to be John Patricina. In my opinion, John Patricina and John Houston Floyd are the same person.
I did give him 5500 dollars up front to do my work. I have been arguing up a storm with him for 2 weeks now trying to get my money back. Last week he says he sent it. 7 days later he says he tried and it wont refund. He has me call his card company and talk to them, we did a 3 way call. Because the card had expired they said it wouldnt refund. They are now supposedly refunding the money. The merchant said he could fix this by changing the expiration date to a later date. I had to hang up before they submit it. Reason being I would have heard Johns personal info. I will know next week if my money is refunded or not. I personally dont think I will see it from him refunding it but I did however dispute the charge with the credit card company. One way or another I will get my money back.
I will encourage anyone that is considering this company to look elsewhere. I had too many lies and excuses as to why my work was not getting done. One of the excuses I heard was someone died. I found it funny cause someone else on this site said he used the same excuse with them too.
Another note, this guys quote was thousands cheaper is why I used him. There is truth in you get what you pay for. For the love of God do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. The lies and headaches I had with this person were just too much for me. I was under very bad stress. Anxiety attacks. I missed work over this guy. Had to many arguements with the wife over this guy too.
I will update this in a week if I got my refund or not. He promised it once and it never happened. Well see what happens this time.
