SunSmart Windows Reviews
I made an appointment with Bill Elshazly for windows and siding estimate and did not tell him I have been in general contracting for nearly two decades. I became suspicious of his inflated promises and the things he said about his experience and company. I did further research on him and discovered that he is essentially working out of his home with no employees, no inventory, and that he is not even from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. When I called to inquire further, he lied and said he had worked for many window companies in the area but could not provide me a single name or reference. Like many others I have seen over the years, he is another fly by night pretending to be a legitimate company selling out of a catalogue with no inventory or even samples. Despite his bragging, I found out he has not even been in business a month here (February). He lied to us and said it didn't matter because the labor warranty is honored by the company.
If you have purchased windows or siding from this man, you need to understand that no product or labor warranty under the manufacturer will be honored if the installation is found to have issues. Your ENTIRE warranty will be voided and since Bill and Sun Smart Windows do not offer their own warranty to back it up, you will find yourself having spent thousands of dollars on nothing. I have seen this time and time again because I get calls to fix these issues and I don't install siding or windows.
Like roofing, there is a significant reason you should only trust a company that has a long term reputation for large projects such as these. Any idiot can get a DBA and a web site and some business cards and sell door to door with brochures using canvassers and then hire subcontractors to install the job. I've seen them come and go just as much as fly by night roofers. If windows are not installed correctly, you will have sash issues and fogging from misaligned frames. Siding will droop from high winds or storms and not a single manufacture or product warranty will cover any poor installation!
I also found out he put an ad online and was trying to hire canvassers and promising them $3000 per month with no base, despite the fact that he hasn't been in business a month and just moved here from San Antonio. Canvassers in any remodeling industry except roofing make $15-$17/hr at the most. If he lies to his own employees, imagine the lies he will tell you.
If you have purchased any remodeling from this con artist, you have three business days in the State of Texas to cancel your agreement and receive a full refund. I highly recommend you do so.
