I thought he was like a good guy you know? The kid was telling me about a contest and how he was preparing to be in my footsteps next year for college. He said all i had to do was vote pick a song?(Magazine) but i played along even though i was in a very big hurry to get to my moms.
He wouldnt take no for an answer, so i asked how much are the Magazines? He said they are all priced individually but whatever i did id get my money back in like a week? As a college kid this was unusual and kind of life a god send because being broke all the time kinda ways ya down.
I bent and bought 2 magazines in cash (he said it secured his points) and signed a recipet. I took said receipt inside closed the door after all that crap happened. My Room mate comes to the door asking who that guy was and i told her it was some highschool graduate in a contest to earn $$$
She looked at me funny and said huh? I gave the reciept to her and she looked at it and said HOLD ON. Went into her room with about 7 of the same reciepts and said " You do know they are scammers and we wont recieve our money back?"
I ran outside so fast to get that guy but all i saw was nothing. I had been cheated out of 125$ i had been lied to that could of been a meal for me or a book payment. FRANK P i hope your happy with what you did.
August 21st 2015, I answered my door to a young woman named Ashley Palker, who was very pleasant saying that she was meeting people to overcome her bashfulness.
In fact, she was selling magazine subscriptions and, to help her get her points to get to Burmuda I paid her in cash $49.00. Of course she wanted me to buy more, but I did not need the Cookbook Digest that I ordered from her.
Of course, I have received no Cookbook Digest to date - 12-5-15. Have realized that this is just another scam, one that I got caught up in. Once burned, twice shy. I won't be doing this again, and will report anyone coming by selling magazine subscriptions.
