My Wife’s lease was up on her SUV /Range Rover and I needed to get her a new vehicle right away. We have two young Daughters and travel a lot and needed an SUV. We’ve owned Escalades in the past and the Range Rover wasn’t nearly as roomy as the Escalade. So when I went to the dealership to test drive a SUV my salesman Jeramy (Who goes to my Church) told me he’d take good care of me. I told him I was over on the mileage for my Range Rover I’m leasing and also a couple more payments were owed. I made it totally clear to my salesman that I needed to get out of this lease and not owe Range Rover a dime. I needed a fresh start with a similar payment but they’d have to pay on the mileage and additional payments owed for the lease. My saleman said no problem. He let me test drive a fully loaded Demo Escalade with a few thousand miles on it. The SUV was beautiful. I told him I’d like to buy a new one because the demo seemed to run a little rough and it had some rattling going on. He then took me back into the showroom and sat me down while he went to explain what I needed to the Sale Manager.
He came back and told me they can get me into the Demo but not a new one because I was over on the mileage on my trade and owed a few more payments. They said the only way I can get into an Escalade with similar payments to my Range Rover I’d have to buy the demo model. They said they’d take care of the overage on mileage and the last payments on my lease trade. I took the truck home and forgot about it. The deal was done in my mind. About a month and a half later I get a call from Land Rover USA saying I owe almost ten thousand dollars and I needed to pay it now or they’d start collection procedures!!! I was like you have to be kidding me? I told them I’d call them back.
I tried to call my salesman but he quit after selling me my Escalade. I looked for him In church to no avail. I called him numerous times on his cell phone and received no answer and no return call after leaving him messages. I called the Sales Manager and told him that I got called from Land Rover saying I owe them almost 10k!!! He said he’ll take care of everything and he needed a letter from Land Rover explaining what was owed. It took three weeks to receive the letter but when I received it I forwarded to the Sales Manager. He then said he’d have to send it to his lawyer to review the document and get it paid for. I then received a letter almost three weeks later from the Dealerships Lawyer offering a $ 1,500.00 settlement. I told them to stick it up their #%+!! Everything they said they’d do is and was a lie. I was lied to by my Salesman. I was lied to by my Sales Manager. I was scammed by a Dealership in my own town where friends I know have bought vehicles at. I’ve been scammed by this Dealership and now they want to buy me off with $ 1500.00 when they told me they’d take care of this. They also broke the law and it may be a criminal offense because they sold my lease vehicle with money’s still owed. They somehow did something to this deal to put another 10k in their pockets. I bought six other Escalades in my life before this one but this Dealership has given Cadillac a bad name and I warn all of you to be very wary of this Dealership!! WARNING!
