In late September, 2015, I was a client at Sunrise House in Lafayette, New Jersey. I was approved for 3 weeks by my insurance, but left after 7 days. The charge for that one week was around $7,000. My insurance paid $4,000, more or less. It was a horrible experience. The days were 16 hours long. No private baths or showers. Freezing cold in the rooms. Bed was a flat mattress on a bunky board type bed.
I am not going to say it was all bad. Some of the lectures and meetings were helpful. Some of the staff really cared. Detox was good.
All that money and had to pay for phone use (phone cards only, another ripoff), laundry, snacks and drinks, pizza (lousy) on Fridays.
Men received preferential treatment, so women beware.
AAC is under investigation for insurance fraud as I write this.
