STAY CLEAR OF THIS DISHONEST OVERCHARGING & MISLEADING COMPANY I am writing in regards to Sun City Garage Door Service ROC# 241688 On 11/24/17 my garage door spring broke and I called the company listed on the sticker left by the company that installed a new opener several years before (All AZ Garage Doors). What I did not know, and was not informed of, was the company was sold to Sun City Garage Door Service now owned by Joseph Anthony Sandoz of Las Vegas. The service tech replaced 2 springs on one door and rollers on 2 doors. I was charged $1665.56. I was the told the high bill was because the springs were "commercial grade”. I have since been told by 3 other reputable companies this was not true. The springs are not even of the same caliber as the ones the tech replaced as can be seen in the attached photos. I was also charges $111 over the actual charges due to a math error on the part of the tech along with a service charge,6% surcharge and additional labor charge.
I since have had the opportunity to talk with the owner of the company I thought I was calling, Mr. Mark Schultz (AZ 1st Garage Doors, 480 695-3224). I explained what had happened and what I was charged and he was livid. He proceeded to inform me that this company has a large number of similar complaints against it. He gave me an estimate of less than $500 if he were to perform the same service. I have confirmed this estimate with 2 additional reputable companies. Sun City Garage Door Service has a local number but is really in Las Vegas, NV. The company has also done business in Arizona as Anytime Garage Door Service, LLC with multiple complaints about excessive billing and misleading information. After reviewing the online information (Yelp, Rip Off Reports ,BBB) as well as channel 3 on your side with Gary Harper showing an undercover story about the unfair business practices of Sun City Garage I realized how unscrupulous this company conducts business. I spoke to the office manager, Mr. Mark Potter, who was willing to refund my service charge $65, the surcharge $90 and the math error $111. This is not acceptable since the charges were 300% more than reasonable and customary fees. This company has a many complaints for the same issues. They have also been caught putting their company stickers on realtor homes for sale.
