Sumissura Reviews

I ordered two custom tailored womans suits for my GF that were of poor quality (material very thin and cheap) and no where close to fitting. I was told to take the suits to a tailor and have them fix it. When we took the suits into a tailor, they were so poorly cut that even he couldnt fix it. They refused to let me return the items for a refund and only offer replacing for more of the same cheap material with shipping to Switzerland at my expense. I paid $515 and expected much better quality for that cost and taking it to a tailor completely defeats the point of using an online service. I have enjoyed services such a M Taylor with much better quality and customer support.

Sumissura advertises their clothes as "100% individually custom-tailored and handcrafted just for you." You chose a style and a fabric, then input you measurements and - magic - you receive a custom made clothes at price only slightly higher than generic clothes you could buy at a store.

Unfortunately, this beautiful marketing fairytale has nothing to do with the reality.

Before placing my order, I was wondering how is that at all possible. Any tailor makes you come for multiple fittings, although they had your measuments taken themselves. Sumissura must have figured a genius technology! And they indeed figured a genius technology, but a technology to rip you off, not to tailor your clothes.

I've placed an order for a pencil skirt, pants and a couple of standard shirts. Despite all the measurements being correct, clothes that I've received weren't not only "tailor made" for me, they fitted me worse than generic store clothes. Honestly, they were just plain straight horrible.

I've reached out to Sumissura support to fix it. In the end of the day, they promise you a Perfect Fit Guarantee: they will pick up the alternation costs or remake your clothing.

I was told that I should find a local tailor to adjust the skirt and the pants and return shirts for them to remake.

"Picking up the alternation costs" looks like this. As they don't recommend you any tailor, you have to find one yourself. Then Sumissura reimburses your expenses up to 25% of your order price. Needless to say, the tailor charges you more than hey reimburse. Once again, all the measurements were correct, they made a mistake, but I've ended up paying extra to fix it.

Surprisingly, even remake of the shirts became additional expenses and a big problem. First, you had to ship back the unusable clothes they've made. Of course, there is no way you can get a free return label or that they will reimburse you the shipping expenses. You will keep paying for their mistake till the very end. Then... Well, if they cannot remake your order, they still wouldn't cancel it and return you the money. By their logic, you must buy something else. it's their company policy.

They've remade one of the shirts and it turned out ok, Just way too expensive, but at least wearable. But then they ran out of fabric they used for he second short. They've asked me to pick up another fabric. I went through what they had in stock, but there was no suitable substitute. I needed a burgundy color, and they only had some shades of red, which wouldn't look good on me. They informed me that they won't order the fabric I've originally wanted ever again.

After lengthy back and forth, I've asked them to just refund my money for that second shirt. If they've run out of fabric, they cannot fulfill my order. But apparently they disagree. By their logic, it's a "tailor made" product, so they cannot accept a refund. Well, I wasn't even asking them to take back their terrible, absolutely non-custom made clothes, I've asked them not to force me to buy a shirt in a fabric/color I didn't order.

As of now, they've simply stole my money for the second shirt. Of course, I can use the "store credit" to buy something else. But why would I ever want to buy anything from them again?

The bottom line of the whole story:

- The clothes they make don't look like "tailor made." Best case scenario, they will look like a store quality stuff. But if you buy in a store, you can try and return.

- If they do a poor job, you have zero protection: you cannot return, you cannot ask for a refund, you cannot get their mistakes fixed at no costs to you. They'll keep quoting their company policy according to which you can only enjoy whatever they've made, not what you've ordered.

- If they run out of fabric for your order, they will either force you to agree to a fabric you don't want or just steal your money.
