I had purchased a Subaru Crosstrek back in 2014 with my savings and then decided to get it undercoated with Diamond Kote (in addition to adding Sound, Paint and Leather protection) at the dealership's recommendation to protect the investment. The finance manager taking care of the transaction at the time assured me that surface rust for the underbody would be covered. I love the car and have been happy with it until my mechanic alerted me to the fact that the undercoat was applied superficially.
As a result, rust is all over the frame now. The frame is also rusting behind the long plastic covers as they failed to remove them to spray the frame behind them. My mechanic mentioned these areas are known to hold salt and moisture. The bumper for example is completely rusted as it was missed.
I have been babying this car for all these years just to find out it is a rust bucket at 78,000 kms??
I was disgusted and furious when I found out I was CHEATED!
What is the use of the Diamond Kote warranty if the application was sloppy by the dealership?? Was the dealership trying to save on product?? Pictures show sample areas missed. Note that I have had other dealerships undercoat our new car purchases in the past without issues.
If I had known all this, I would have taken the car yearly to Krown instead, that has proven to work on our Honda even protecting non-frame parts, giving us additional protection.
TOO LATE NOW!!
Not surprisingly, the service department did the annual inspection for the undercoat yesterday and DID NOT spot any issues. My son had to show them, after the inspection, how the car was rusting all over. What exactly was the service dept. inspecting if they could not see all the rust themselves???
The level of competency and lack of care by the Subaru of London service department is appalling!!
How reliable or safe are Subarus if they turn into rust buckets at a mere 78,000 kms??
