Ordered the camera - $254 online - called when I had heard nothing about it for a week. Spoke to come guy who was like you didn't order a battery - (because why would it come with one) told me it would be $49 bucks - big sale! So I said fine.

Order gets to me - the slip is $355 - I also get a camera case - and a tripod and cleaning cloths!! (Did not order them!)

Box for the camera is ruined - like actually ripped!? There is no owners manuel, and the box says for sale in Japan only on it. Which would be fine if I was in Japan - I am not. I live in the USA.

Asked for a refund - was told I get to pay the re-stocking fee - so I am out about $70 bucks for nothing.

Buyer beware!!

Scam BS company!!!

I found a camera on the site, stylusdeals.com, at a much lower price than other sites, no shipping and no tax. The site said it was located in Raleigh NC. The sale confirmation email from the site did not include the price -- that should have been my first clue. I got an urgent email and phone call that I should contact them, and I spoke with "Ben" there who said the item was on back order til the next day (okay, second clue) and he wanted to know if I wanted the battery too.

Ok. There it was -- the reason the camera was so much cheaper. It would cost $39.99, and though I groused about their technique, I added it to the order. I received the order with other "freebies" and an invoice for about $20 higher than I was supposed to be paying.

When I called (the VM message was clearly recorded by a NYer but I was dialing a NC number), I was connect to the same guy I had talked with before (he confirmed), but that day he was using the name "Jerry." Jerry explained that the "package" deal included insurance and handling charges. And all items in the package were listed as $0 individually. I asked where they were located and he said FL. I asked for the address and he refused to provide it.

Clearly these are slick fraudsters who run multiple sites and know the ins and outs of transactional rules and laws. My credit card transaction went to MORE4LESDIGITALCOM, which says it's based in New York City.

My husband bought what he assumed was a brand new underwater digital camera for $99 from this StylusDeals.com First came the extra charge for the battery. Then the camera arrived in a plain white box with a black and white label, not in the original box that a new one would come in. They also sent him several items he didn't order and charged him for those, for a total of $168. When he called to say he wanted to return the camera because it was refurbished, not new as he was led to believe, they told him they'd have to receive it in two days--and it was a Friday afternoon.

So we disputed the charge with the credit card company. It was resolved in their favor because Stylus Deals told Discover they'd give us a full refund if we sent the camera back. All we had to do was call and get a return authorization number and the address.

I have never been through so much grief to make a return.

When I called, I was informed that no, we would have to pay for restocking and shipping, what they'd written to Discover ("We aren't chaging the cardholder a restocking fee..") referred to how they'd have handled it if we'd returned it in August when my husband bought the camera. Furthermore, before they'd give us an RMA number, my husband had to sign a form stating that he would not dispute those fees with Discover.

He signed the form and we emailed the PDF to them. They said they couldn't open it, so I had to drive to the UPS store and pay $2 to fax the form to them. Finally, we got the RMA number and sent it off on Nov. 9. UPS verified that it was delivered on Nov. 11.

When no refund was given, I contacted Discover on Nov. 28. They connected me with an "agent of the company" who said the package arrived Nov. 23 and we'd be getting our refund Dec. 2. There was no refund, even though they had agreed in writing to issue one and had acknowledged receiving the returned item. Discover has since given us a courtesy adjustment for the full amount.

It was obvious that the people at Stylus Deals intentionally misrepresent their merchanidse, charge for additional items without customer authorization, and then make returns extremely difficult, expecting customers to just give up and take the loss. That's how they make their money. Certainly not through return business.
