Stripe Reviews

  • Mar 22, 2016

3 of us opened online businesses business. One of my friends stuppled on to a company called stripe. and so we all went with stripe. Things went okay for about 2 weeks, until 3 seperate customers made purchases. The total of all 3 transactions was less than 1100.00.

Stripe deposited 1 of the deposits, and immediately withdrew it, saying that the deposit was declined by the bank. 2 months later no money was ever seen... and we have a furious customer who cannot recieve their merchandise but has a 30 day hold on their card.

We lost that customer. You cannot contact them. Customer service does not respond. emails go unanswered for months. I have started a campaign to take as many customers from these crooks as possible.

This setback has cost us about 10 to 15,000 in setbacks. We Strongly URGE YOU spread the word about these crooks.

Note... I have attempted to tweet, private message on Facebook, even tweeted the CEO on Twitter... No Response at all!

Whats the definition of a thief? Someone who takes money without permission... Thank you for reading this report

I opened up a little online shop on Spotify and was happy when I received a couple of large sales in the amount of $1600 each. In the end, I ended up paying Stripe (the payment processor) over $400 for each payment on top of having the original sale amount pulled out of my account because the payments were apparently from stolen credit cards.

Thankfully I have a long fabrication time for my custom rings (4-6 weeks) or I would have been out very expensive gold merchandise as well (aside from my labor costs and time, which I'm also out)! I emailed Stripe (found no phone number for them), and got replies via email but basically no real help or answers, I was pretty much told 'too bad'. The fees are very high in the first place, then they added on additional fees for the chargeback and pulled it all from my account without warning.

In my opinion, Stripe allowed stolen credit card payments (with different mailing addresses...daaah) to be put through and so THEY should be the ones held accountable. The rep I emailed with was nice but would not give me any info when I asked about it. I had no idea I would be charged so much money when I have done nothing wrong and had nothing to do with any stolen credit cards! I feel I've been taken advantage of- I didn't ask for this! Stripe allowed bad cards to be processed, and then charged me hundreds and hundreds of dollars when the real cardholders filed chargebacks. I have a feeling I'm not the only one this has happened to! Anyone else have this happen? Please let me know, I want to stop this!!! As small business owners we don't have much help or backup to fight the big guys (payment processors in this case) from taking advantage of us and taking our money. Very frustrating.

Stripe is unfortunately ruining my life my business, my employees, and Christmas for their kids.

We have been running various websites for many years and have always used traditional merchant accounts. Unfortunately, we run many websites, and with traditional merchant accounts the processors want an account for each site and business. When you have 15 sites, having 15 merchant accounts in nearly impossible to manage and we found ourselves creating more problems trying to manage each one vs finding a processor like stripe that we could create sub accounts or something of the sort and be up and running with each new website we launched in hours or less. We were finally making progress and excited to begin using stripe. Money was flowing, deposits were coming, orders were being shipped, chargebacks were low and next to nothing. Refunds, were only our own transactions that we were testing our sites with.

Things were good as all stories start out in the beginning. Unfortunately that lasted just a short while. We began to slowly receive notifications for each account one by one over time with each notification having different reasons. None of this made sense to us, we were shipping orders, refunds were low, sites were doing good, chargebacks were next to nothing, and everything was in place. The relationship should be perfect match and fit.

Recently as each account was being shut down, they were starting to place holds, change deposits to 7 days, then no deposits, and a constant loop of scheduling transfers that never happened. You can’t reach them, explain, discuss, or anything. I have managed to get some email responses here and there with very little information flowing, we are left with no choice but to share our story and hopefully avoid this happening to others.

We now have around $15,000 tied up with stripe. That is a lot of money, and we are 9 days away from Christmas, we have employees to pay this week, they have Christmas to buy for their kids, travels to see family, all to be destroyed over Stripe and their lack of willingness to work with their supporters. I was a big fan, loved their concept and ease to do business. I was like in my head, saying Finally a company that gets it and if for the small businesses out there. I love Stripe.

That is all being erased with the stress and frustrations they have caused on our business and our personal lives. We need our cash flow and rely on it to operate. They never inquired to see if our orders were fulfilled, customers happy, or anything just shut us down with no information or reasons that we could maybe provide documents, information to satisfy their concerns. While I realize businesses like theirs have to manage risk, I respect that, but did they reach out, inquire, or anything? NO. Worst of all, CHRISTMAS IS RUINED for many!

I also realize there is lots of fraud out there, they have to take preventative measures, but don’t hurt the good guys, or penalize the ones who run a legitimate operation.

As we are respected in our industry already which is internet marketing, It is not difficult to prove that a company who by procedure does not communicate by telephone with people, and has more negative press than a presidential nominee already ( as we learned in doing diligence on this issue ) is engaged in unreasonable business practices and unfairness to its clients. We will show this. Sorry your "Hands are tied". We were hoping for a more favorable response as my concern is for the survival of our small business and my staff and their families.

This is December 16th today. We will not be able to pay our employees for Christmas without our money. We have been effectively shut down by Stripes actions. Our business will be entirely shut down until we can reapply, open new merchant accounts and go through the painstaking process of integrating the new processors etc to our websites. Stripe didn’t provide a shred of evidence of chargebacks, or what risk level they speak of. Please define how you qualify "Higher than normal risk". Because form the outside, it looks like you are using MY employee's paychecks, to fund their company. However; we can absolutely prove we have shipped and continue to ship products. We can absolutely prove any chargebacks or disputes are handled by our accounting staff, we can absolutely prove that the level or "risk" you assess, is probably not based on anything specific to our industry or actual performance.

Stay clear of Stripe if you want to avoid things like the above, shame on me for taking a chance with a company that does not provide phone support or publish a phone number at all.

We started using stripe as our merchant processor after being assured they had good merchant protection for fraud. Just follow our terms and you're protected, their sales rep said. NOPE! We lost a sale to a verified billing and shipping match of $2800 plus!!! I got the chargeback notice from stripe, and guess what, you have no phone number to call for support. So we showed ALL of our evidence that we followed their terms and conditions and were sure we would win the chargeback (as we did all the time before with other mechant processors when we did this). No, all I got was a freaking email that we lost. No reason, no NOTHING.

Throughout the 60 day wait we couldn't even get any updates. Usually when you file a dispute to a chargeback you get communicated throughout the whole process. If they counter file anything you get notified and you can respond again. NOPE not with STRIPE! Total god d*** rip off! I would not recommend these guys to my worst enemy.

Company decided out the blue to cancel my account and freeze all my funds after telling me I was approved to use their services. My store is www.board2def.com and email for business is [email protected]; I own a store that sales electronic scooters and electric boards, and I decided use Stripe because they are the preferred merchant processor for Weebly, whom I have my store website with. I signed up for Stripe on Aug. 7th, and Stripe sent me an email stating I was APPROVED to accept payments on my site. After 12 customer orders, they decided that my store is no longer qualified to do business with them, and canceled my account and froze all of my money-$4k worth of funds!!! I am now stuck in the hole because I had to fulfill customer orders and merchandise out of my own pocket and I cannot operate my business now because all of my money is on hold after 1 week of business with this company.STRIPE is a FRAUD!!! I have not had any customer charge backs or disputes, and NEVER once did they send a warning or address that they can steal and freeze funds anytime they feel like it. They have no customer service number to resolve the issue and now they are holding my money for 90 days. Why would you "APPROVE" me, and then deny to release my funds after I have several orders and fees charged with your company. It seems that your "KYC" Policy and review should have occured first before you approved me to accept payments. It is unfair that you steal money from small busineness and do not give them a fair opportunity to find a better fit merchant processor, and leave companies in the dark of their money. This kind of business practice is unacceptable, and I see why they now have over 200 BBB Complaints. I feel tricked because in order to use WEEBLY, they MAKE you sign up with STRIPE if you do not pay the upgraded fee. Now i'm stuck trying to figure out how to resolve my fulfillment issues without my funds to cover cost or profit. This is ludacris and unfair business practice. This needs to be looked into and I want my money back IMMEDIATLEY before I seek additional legal action. my store is an online electric scooter store. I'm not selling drugs or anything illegal or against policy. Your company just can't handle the fact that I actually had clients that want my product. This company is a SCAM!!! Stay away, they will allow you to process transactions and then take your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
