I ordered portable dvd players and portable cd players and batteries and headphones. they are requesting down payment when they are waiting for credit approval from their credit department and they state $0 is requesting a down payment has asking money. i want all my items out of my two orders my two order numbers are 65445419 and 6533550534
I recieived a catalog from Stoneberry.com and was preapproved at a $250.00 credit limit. I used the credit amount one time to place an order which was under the amount of $250.00.
I went to use the account again and they are telling me I need to put a down payment on my order when the order is still under the $250.00 mark.
Why send out catalogs with a pre approved amount if they are not going to abide by their actions. I will never shop for order anything from this store. Everyone should know they Rip You Off and don't think twice about it.
Their customer service team doesn't seem to care whether they lose customers or not. I found over 114 complaints on line for Stoneberry, most of which say the same thing that I am saying.
Warning to all Do Not Shop There, It is a Rip Off!!
I have bank statements dating back to when I opened the account amounting to over $300. That is the amount of merchandise I purchased. One of my first purchases, a gold chain, was returned and I was not charged for it. After making months of payments and then receiving a statement that I only owed about $17 to clear my account I attempted to order another comforter set. I was denied the payment plan and told I had to pay the entire amount upfront. I stated that I did not want to do that. The items were NEVER sent to me.
Shortly after this my statement appeared with the amount of that order, $164.49, that I had declined. I called the company and was told that the order was cancelled and would be removed. A month later the amount was still there plus late fees and finance charges. I called again and was told that the order was cancelled but it could not be “removed” from my account, it would eventually “fall off” the account. They also claimed not to have any of my previous statements, this is not available on their website either. I don’t have them either as this was over a year ago and I didn’t think it necessary to keep them as I was paying them back.
The months following I continued to receive statements with that amount plus late fees and finance charges. I called once more, speaking with customer service and the billing department. They contended that the fees arose from the items I had already purchased, this is not correct… I have bank statements to prove I paid them all the money owed including late fees from the previous orders. I did make several late payments but I always paid what was owed, the amount plus finance charges and the late fee.
Stoneberry is a mail-order company that mails magazines out and offers credit for purchases with them. They offered me $500 and then required a deposit. I was going to pay but then read horrible reviews on this site and others. Some people, who have very good credit, were also required to make a deposit. In addition, Stoneberry pulled my credit without my knowledge. I suscribe to other mail-order magazines, which have not required a deposit and with whom I have good credit. Now my main concern is that they will not cancel the order, although I have asked them to do it three times! They said that if I don't make a deposit they will remove the order in 90 days! 90 days! I am now concerned that they will run my credit again during their absurd waiting period and I can't do anything about it! These people are scammers! They take advantage of folks that are good mail-order clients with other companies! Just read the other complaints here and on other sites!
This company is such a trap, first their prices are marked up by 75% unless it's on sale then it's usually the same as what you would buy in a department store, which is okay if you can't afford something right away and want to get gifts for the holidays. They send out catalogs that say your name on it and says your pre-approved. I didn't even know how they got my name and address for one thing, but I thought I'd see what they had online, some items were reasonable so I order some sale items and then found out that I wasn't pre-approved and they wanted me to full pay. I was like well I'd use my credit card but now I'm disgusted with their lies and false advertising. AVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE

Now they have sent the account to collections!
